Gloucester At Horsebere Brook Flood Storage Area this evening a Lapwing, a Common Sandpiper and a Snipe still present and also two Kingfishers, three Whinchats, a Stonechat, a Yellow Wagtail and 60 Goldfinches. (Andy Jayne).
Symonds Yat The resident Peregrines and their juvenile male, Buzzards, a Sparrowhawk, two juvenile Goshawks, Ravens, two Mandarins, a Kingfisher and four Goosanders. Also a Painted Lady, a Silver-washed Fritillary, Gatekeeper, Ringlet, Large and Small White, Meadow Brown and Holly Blue butterflies and Hummingbird Hawk Moths. (Chris & Phil Andrews).
Coombe Hill Meadows A pair of Mute Swans with four cygnets, a Greylag, an eclipse Wigeon, a Teal, 60 Mallards, eight Little Egrets, a Grey Heron, three pairs of Coots with nearly full grown young at the Wharf, south scrape and Long Pool, 80 Lapwings feeding on cut hayfields, a Little Ringed Plover, a Green Sandpiper, a Yellow Wagtail, a Reed Warbler and at least five Sedge Warblers. Forthampton Beside the River Severn near Forthampton a male Curlew with three just-flying chicks on 21st July, still there today with at least two chicks. (Mike Smart).
