Coombe Hill Meadows From the Grundon hide a Reed Warbler, seven Little Egrets, seven Grey Herons, Bullfinches calling, House Martins and Swallows. Along the Canal Towpath a female Redstart, and butterflies included Small Copper, Essex Skipper, Gatekeeper, Comma, Peacock, Meadow Brown, Large, Small and Green-veined Whites, Ringlet, Common Blue and Brown Argus. Also Blue-tailed, Emerald, Azure, Common Blue and Banded Demoiselle damselflies, Emperor, Brown Hawker (pic), Four-spotted Chaser, Black-tailed Skimmer, Common Darter and Ruddy Darter dragonflies. Down Hatherley Belated from the evening of Friday 29th June two Purple Hairstreaks around the tops of oak trees along a public footpath across farmland that leads from the end of Wood Lane (Down Hatherley) to Staverton. (Rob Crofton).
Winchcombe Garden birds included a Goldcrest, a Greenfinch, a male Bullfinch, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Song Thrush with a juvenile begging for food, four Goldfinches, six Swifts and a Buzzard over and a Tawny Owl calling at night. (Andrew & Gill Worthington).
