Coombe Hill Meadows This morning a female Redstart, two Bullfinches, a Curlew, two Willow Warblers, two Chiffchaffs, five Grey Herons, a Red Kite, a Buzzard and ten Swallows. Also a Hornets nest. (John Casswell).
Ashleworth Ham This evening six Mallards, two Grey Herons, one catching and eating a young eel from the small pool remaining and an adult Buzzard on top of a pylon. (Andy & Sue Gibbons).
Stonehouse Between Stanley Downton-Bond’s Mill a Greenfinch and juveniles, Goldfinch and juveniles, Goldcrest and a juvenile, Chiffchaff and a juvenile, c20 Long-tailed Tits, many Dunnocks and a juvenile, a Whitethroat, two Buzzards, two Grey Herons, four Little Egrets, a Dipper at Bond’s Mill, 15 Swallows, nine House Martins and a Weasel near the sewage works. Hasfield Ham CES ringing session today caught 67 birds including an adult Redstart, a Sedge Warbler, six Whitethroats, four Blackcaps, a Lesser Whitethroat, four Willow Warblers, two Chiffchaffs, five Reed Buntings, 28 Long-tailed Tits and four Bullfinches.
