Stinchcombe Hill A dark chocolate HONEY BUZZARD over at 7:05pm heading towards Uley being mobbed by c100 hirundines. This morning the first big movement of Meadow Pipits over this autumn, some grounded, together with steady movement of hirundines, including Sand Martins, three Yellow Wagtails over and two Kestrels and still 30+ Pied Wagtails. Berkeley Pill A KITTIWAKE flew down river at high tide this morning. Also 30 Wigeon, 45 Mallard, one Teal, two Gadwalls, 81 Redshanks, 43 Dunlins with a Ringed Plover, a female Marsh Harrier, two Buzzards and 49 Black-headed Gulls. (Dave Emery).
Forest of Dean At Blaize Bailey woods this morning two Redstarts, three Spotted Flycatchers, a Goshawk sparring with a Raven for over 10 minutes, three Buzzards, three Nuthatches and a Jay. Also a Clouded Yellow and two Roe Deer. (Dave Smith).
Hornsleasow Roughs A minimum of four Spotted Flycatchers, a Redstart and a Stonechat near Snowshill at SP117323. (Duncan Dine).
Cotswold Water Park East WeBS highlights on Pit 127 a Kingfisher, a Snipe, a Green Sandpiper, six Lapwings and three Egyptian Geese. On Pit 126 a Little Grebe, ten Wigeon and an Egyptian Goose. On Pit 125 a Water Rail heard and three Herring Gulls. On Pit 116 a Common Sandpiper. (John Durell).
Aylburton Warth/Guscar Rocks WeBS count today included ten Canada Geese, six Mallard, 12 Teal, 13 Grey Herons, two Little Egrets, six Cormorants, five Ringed Plovers, two Snipe, 13 Knot, 540 Curlews (including five of the youngsters raised and released at Slimbridge in 2019, one of the chicks ringed along the Avon valley in summer 2022, and at least 15 of the adults colour-ringed nearby between 2010 and 2013), a Redshank, three Common Sandpipers, 60 Black-headed Gulls and a Common Gull. Other species included three Skylarks, 53 Swallows, two Yellow Wagtails, 35 Meadow Pipits, a Whinchat, 40 Carrion Crows, at least six singing Chiffchaffs and a Reed Bunting. Forest of Dean At Mitcheldean c30 House Martins flew around the house at 9:15am around a single nest in the eaves before moving on. (Chris Keeling).
