Wednesday 5th April 2023

Edge     From Rudge Hill NNR at 11:35 an OSPREY circled over Pitchcombe Woods (SO845085) a couple of times, then headed off towards Haresfield Beacon. Also at Rudge Hill this morning, 2 or 3 Chiffchaffs singing, a Nuthatch calling, a pair of Bullfinches and two Song Thrushes singing. Leckhampton Hill    A YELLOW WAGTAIL on a freshly ploughed field this afternoon. (Greg Mabbett).

WWT Slimbridge     Three drake GARGANEYS on the Tack Piece floods today. A Sedge Warbler singing from Martin Smith hide and another singing from Knott hide. Two Willow Warblers along the walkway.  (Slimbridge Sightings/Neil Smart).

Frampton    From Splatt Bridge this evening four Oystercatchers, two Redshanks, six Curlews, two Willow Warblers and five Gadwalls. 200+ Black-tailed Godwits in five separate groups dropped onto the river with two Avocets. (Gordon Hodgson).

Saul Warth     Two Pintails this evening.  (Gordon Hodgson).

Brookend, near Woolaston     Three Swallows over fields towards Lydney, seen from the lane near Station Kennels at 8:30am. (Ian Gorton).

Elmore     Today two Greylags, four Shelducks, 15 Mallards, a Red Kite, four Lapwings, ten Golden Plovers flew upriver N, six Curlews landed on stubble then flew upriver, two Green Sandpipers, two Herring Gulls, five Skylarks, at least six Chiffchaffs, a Raven, 20 Carrion Crows and a Reed Bunting.
