Forest of Dean    The IBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF again in Old Staple-edge Wood around SO 64929 10114 singing throughout the day and showing well occasionally, often high in the Beech canopy. In the Yew Tree Brake area three Wood Warblers, a Redstart and three Fallow Deer. (Nigel Tucker). A Tree Pipit at Crabtree Hill this afternoon. (Terry Stevenson).

WWT Slimbridge     A drake GARGANEY on the Rushy this morning. A Cuckoo at the canoe safari. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Sharpness Docks to Purton Timber ponds     Three Lesser Whitethroats, a Cuckoo calling and a Kingfisher. (Paul Rich).

Lechlade    Two Common Terns at Halfpenny Bridge and four Swifts screaming around the marketplace. (Ian Sherriffs).

Coombe Hill Meadows     A Common Tern amongst the loafing and feeding gulls today. (Les Ditchburn).

Frampton     No sign of the Ibis this afternoon in fields S of the Sailing Lake a Cuckoo, two Buzzards, a Shelduck and five Swallows. 6+ Common Terns on the Sailing Lake, 2+ Hobbies distant over Court Lake, 100’s of Common Blue Damselflies hatching. (MK).

Gloucester     At Horsbere Brook F.S.A. a Yellow Wagtail this evening. (Terry Stevenson).

Cheltenham     A Cuckoo heard calling for an hour, sounded like it was coming from the trees between Timbercombe Wood and California Farm, S of Cheltenham. A Whitethroat at SO978184 S of California Farm. (Rose Lennard). The Mute Swan pair in Pittville park have seven cygnets, three days old. (Alan McIlquham).

Cherington     At the lake and in the surrounding woodland this afternoon birds included two Little Grebes, four Canada Geese with two goslings, two Mute Swans, three Mallards, three Moorhens, a Grey Heron, three Buzzards, three Song Thrushes, two Blackcaps, two Chiffchaffs, four Grey Wagtails and a Greenfinch. Bishops Cleeve     From the railway halt at Gotherington a Cuckoo and a Song Thrush heard from Ganna Lane and a Buzzard over. (Howard Taylor). A Chiffchaff calling in Bishops Cleeve. (Alan McIlquham). Three Swifts over the Kings Head Inn in Bishops Cleeve. (Howard Taylor).

Cleeve Hill     Butterflies at the Bill Smyllie reserve included numerous Duke of Burgundy’s including a mating pair, Small Blues, Green Hairstreaks, Small Heath, Red Admiral, Brimstone, Orange Tip, Dingy Skippers and a Burnet Companion moth. (Chris & Phil Andrews).
