Saturday 6th July 2024

Frampton     At Splatt Bridge this morning, two Common Sandpipers on the canal, five Bar-tailed Godwits flew N, a Black-tailed Godwit flew high S, 13 Curlews, 30+ Avocets over the estuary, a male Yellow Wagtail, four young Black-headed Gulls and a Common Tern flew S. (Gordon Hodgson). On Court Lake the Ross’s Goose, 55 Greylags, 92 Barnacle Geese, a Canada Goose, 60 Mute Swans, a Common Tern and 25+ Swifts. (MK).

Gloucester    At 5:20pm a Red Kite drifted low across the Randwick Park area of Tuffley. (Ian Elphick).

WWT Slimbridge    A Common Sandpiper on the Tack Piece. Five Little Ringed Plovers and 50+ Redshanks on South Lake. (Dot Jones/Neil Smart/Mike Davis).

Winchcombe     This afternoon a male Sparrowhawk on the lawn with a Great Spotted Woodpecker in its talons, and then flew off with it. (Andrew & Gill Worthington).

Brockhampton     This evening a Barn Owl flying low over fields, a Buzzard, two Yellowhammers, two Goldfinches, Chiffchaffs singing and a House Martin. (Andrew & Gill Worthington).
