Stroud to Thrupp On a return walk along the Thames & Severn canal from Lodgemore, Stroud to Ham Mill, Thrupp this afternoon a Dipper at Ham Mill on the Frome, a Red Kite and a Treecreeper at Griffin’s Mill, an aberrant drake Mandarin at Bowbridge, two drake Mandarins and a Little Egret on Fromehall Millpond at Lodgemore. Hazleton On the approach road from the Salperton direction on the corner by a gateway at SP0744518704 a male and two female Bramblings, best viewed from your car. The flock is easily spooked. (Chris Snook).
Fromebridge Two Green Sandpipers flew up from the River Frome at Fromebridge Mill this morning, seen initially from the car park, then later a bit further down the river. Also two Curlews and a Kingfisher along the river. (Sue Beynon).
Coombe Hill Meadows Still heavy flooding, not accessible from the usual approach
along the canal towpath, so the only approach possible is from the northern
side near Apperley. Birds today included three Mute Swans, 70 Wigeon, 750 Teal, 50 Mallards, 100 Pintails, 30 Shovelers and a Coot. (Mike Smart).
Maisemore Mid afternoon Court Lake to the upper parting above the weir 129 Fieldfares, two Mallards, nine Moorhens, three Buzzards, 230 Black-headed Gulls, two Grey Herons, five Goldfinches, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, six Great Tits and seven Chaffinches. (John Fletcher).
