Chavenage Lane area     Birds included two QUAIL calling to each other in a wheat field, also many Corn Buntings, Yellowhammers, Linnets and Skylarks and several Whitethroats, including juveniles, W of Chavenage Green. (Chris Newton).

WWT Slimbridge    A juvenile WOOD SANDPIPER on the Tack Piece this morning. (Keith Davies).

Forest of Dean     In the Woorgreens/Crabtree Hill area eight Crossbills (1m), a pair of Stonechats, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs and a Buzzard. Also a Golden-ringed Dragonfly, Four-spotted and Broad-bodied Chasers, a Silver-washed Fritillary, a Small Copper and many Toads. (MK).

Stinchcombe Golf Course     A Spotted Flycatcher and seven Swifts this morning. Also 13 butterfly species including a Silver-washed Fritillary, a Painted Lady, 19 Commas, six Red Admirals, three Peacocks, a Speckled Wood and seven Large Skippers. (Brian Kings).

Frampton     From Splatt Bridge early morning, five newly fledged Swallows from the nest under the bridge sat in a nearby Willow being fed by the parents, a Grey Wagtail, two Pied Wagtails, 12 Greenfinches, a Common Tern and two Tufted Ducks over. (Steve Pullen).

Stonehouse     In the Bond’s Mill area this morning a Chiffchaff, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Song Thrush, a Kingfisher, two family parties of Blackcaps, young Robins and a young Blackbird. Also Banded and Beautiful Demoiselles, Blue tailed and Common Blue Damselflies, Four-spotted Chasers, a Brown Hawker, Emperors, a Scarce Chaser, Commas, Speckled Woods, Small White and Small Skipper. Selsley Common     Skylarks, Meadow Pipits , four Linnets, a Red Kite and two Painted Lady butterflies. (Gerard Doran).

Ashleworth Ham     A Purple Hairstreak feeding on bramble flowers in the Stank Lane area today. (Phil & Chris Andrews).

About The Gloster Birder

My name is Mike King and have lived all my life in Gloucestershire. I am happiest birding around Frampton but I especially love Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
