Frampton A SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF in the hedge S of the sailing lake. Around the pools 32 Sand Martins, 14 Chiffchaffs, seven Blackcaps, 15 Fieldfares, 50+ Redwings, four Oystercatchers, 107 Tufted Ducks, a pair of Shovelers, three Gadwalls, six Reed Buntings and a Yellowhammer. (Nick Goatman). A drake Mandarin and a Little Grebe on Saul Lodge pond. On Saul Warth viewed from the canal five Teal and a pair of Gadwalls. Along the canal/flashes two Curlews, two Oystercatchers, a Snipe, two Common Cranes, four Cattle Egrets, four Little Egrets, four Chiffchaffs, two Blackcaps, two Cetti’s Warblers, seven Redwings, four Skylarks and two Reed Buntings. Maisemore At the Leadon Meadows this morning birds included six Shelducks, two male Pochards, 12 Tufted Ducks, ten Shovelers, four Gadwalls, five Wigeon, 58 Pintails, a Little Egret, a Kingfisher and a Grey Wagtail. (Andy Jayne).
Guscar Rocks On this morning’s high tide nine Canada Geese, five Shelducks, ten Wigeon, 30 Teal, two Mallards, a Grey Heron, two Buzzards, a Peregrine, three Oystercatchers, five Dunlins, 441 Curlews, five Redshanks and two Skylark. (Mike Smart).
Nailsworth Siskin passage noticeable at Windsoredge, 37 birds ringed in the last four days (4th-7th March) with no retraps. Several flocks of up to 20 birds around. May exceed the 2024 total of 50 if this continues. Also a Tawny Owl calling during the day in Norton Wood and a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming. (Roy Bircher).
