WWT Slimbridge     A MANX SHEARWATER off of Middle Point. Also from Middle Point a Goosander (same as SARA bird), 200-300 Ringed Plovers and Dunlins, with at least two Bar-tailed Godwits, ten Sanderlings, a Turnstone, a Knot, a Curlew Sandpiper and a Whimbrel in the Curlew roost. Nailsworth     430 House Martins and 30+ Swallows flew S in 20 minutes (2 short counts) this morning, despite the rain. They were harried by a hunting Hobby. At 1:10pm c150 House Martins,with an undetermined number of Sand Martins, flew through in very murky conditions. Also four Siskins. (Terry Grant).

Frampton pools     A Green Sandpiper, a Common Sandpiper, 53 Robins, 90 Chiffchaffs, two Willow Warblers, 18 Blackcaps, seven Cetti’s Warblers, 13 Little Grebes, three Great Crested Grebes, one sat on a nest, 50+ Swallows, 50+ Sand Martins, 10+ House Martins, a Grey Wagtail and a Spotted Flycatcher. Nailsworth     A steady trickle of hirundines flying south throughout the day, with a flock of 40+ House Martins and 30+ Swallows this evening and a Swift flying north at 6:55pm. (Terry Grant). This evening a Ring-necked Parakeet flew west over the garden in Walkley Wood. (Jon Haw).

Cheltenham     A Spotted Flycatcher in Pittville Park  trying for smaller dragonflies on the boating lake at 1pm. (Steve Money).

It returned to Robbie Garnett hide at 3:45pm, then flew out to the estuary at 4:15pm. Also the Tundra Bean Goose, of unknown origin, on South Lake. Painswick Beacon     Today’s Vismig watch included 390 House Martins, 262 Swallows, seven Swifts, two Tree Pipits, a Hobby and a Common Gull. Three Red Kites and five Buzzards were drifting around the area. (John Fleming).

Sheepscombe     This afternoon at 4pm several pairs of House Martins still attending nests on a house. Also a Goshawk over with a Buzzard, a Kestrel and a Raven. Butterflies nearby on Sheepscombe Common included several each of Common Blue, Brown Argus, Small Copper and a Clouded Yellow. Cotswold Water Park East    At Whelford pools this afternoon on Pit 111 11 Red Crested Pochards, a Kingfisher, two Great Crested Grebes, five Tufted Ducks, two Coots, two Moorhens and a Reed Warbler. On Pit 111a 55 Coots, three Great Crested Grebes (1 juv), seven Mallards and two Mute Swans. On Pit 111b 16 Cormorants, five Tufted Ducks, eight Coots, two Great Crested Grebes and five Moorhens. Saul Warth     Early morning 151 Curlews, six Avocets, a Black-tailed Godwit, two Dunlins, a Greenshank heard, 64 Shelducks, 50 Teal, two Little Egrets, a Great White Egret, six Cattle Egrets, seven Grey Herons, four Grey Wagtails, a Yellow Wagtail, ten Pied Wagtails, a Swallow, a Lesser Whitethroat, two Whitethroats, a Blackcap and six Chiffchaffs including a very pale grey bird. WWT Slimbridge    This morning a Green Sandpiper, 14 Ruff, a Knot, a showy Snipe, the leucistic Lapwing and a Black Swan on the Rushy. A Great White Egret, a WOOD SANDPIPER, a Yellow Wagtail, two Sand Martins and a Kingfisher from Zeiss hide and the Tundra Bean Goose, of unknown origin, on South Lake still. (MK).

Elmore Court     In the rewilding area early morning birds included a Spotted Flycatcher, 3+ Whinchats still with 5+Stonechats, 12+Reed Buntings, a Cetti’s Warbler, two Green Woodpeckers, five Cormorants over, a Sparrowhawk, three Buzzards, a Kestrel, a Roe Deer and a Fox. (Steve Pullen).

Kingscote     2+ Hobbies, a Buzzard, four Spotted Flycatchers, 200+ Swallows and 60+ House Martins today. (Terry Grant).

Ashleworth Ham     A ringing session today caught 49 birds including two Whitethroats, three Blackcaps, 17 Chiffchaffs, three Willow Warbler and five Reed Buntings. Other birds on the reserve included a Sparrowhawk, a Skylark, ten Swallows, ten Linnets and two Ravens.
