Forest of Dean     A GREAT GREY SHRIKE briefly at Crabtree Hill at 7:45am, but no sign since then. (Andy Jayne). Another or the same GREAT GREY SHRIKE at 1pm in the new clearing along the cycle track between Burnt Log and Three Brothers, Russell’s Inclosure. Access opposite New Fancy View. Please keep to the two main tracks which gives great views, avoids disturbing the bird and removes risk injuring yourself. (Lewis Thomson).

Slimbridge     Two CATTLE EGRETS with cattle in the field opposite the school, adjacent to the A38 at 10:45am (reported that after leaving the roost they have been splitting into two groups of 2 and 4 respectively and feeding during the day at separate sites). (John Widgery).

WWT Slimbridge     On the Rushy, the first BEWICK’S SWANS (2 ads, 1 juv) of the winter. From the Holden Tower late morning a Marsh Harrier quartering the E bank of the River Severn, also a male Sparrowhawk and 20+ White-fronted Geese. (John Widgery/Bob Philpott/Slimbridge Sightings).

Hartpury     At Hartpury College main gate SO794232 two Green Woodpeckers feeding on the grass verge today. (Alan Hooper).green-woodpecker-031116

Brockworth     Off Guan Road near Coopers Edge School a Buzzard, five Goldfinches, four Long-tailed Tits, three Pied Wagtails, two Green Woodpeckers, a  Great Spotted Woodpecker and a dog Fox. (John Fletcher).buzzard-031116Tewkesbury     A pair of Egyptian Geese and a Kingfisher on the River Avon near the sailing club today. Frampton     A male Goldeneye on the Sailing Lake today. (Nick Goatman).

My name is Mike King and have lived all my life in Gloucestershire. I am happiest birding around Frampton but I especially love Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
