waxwing-2-050217WWT Slimbridge     The LAPLAND BUNTING showed late morning on the Dumbles associating with Meadow Pipits but was generally elusive and difficult to see. Water Rails at Willow hide and Zeiss hide also a juvenile male Stonechat at Zeiss hide. (MK/Steve Brown). Gloucester    At Port Ham late afternoon a big roost of at least 98 Reed Buntings. Also a probable Siberian Chiffchaff with three Chiffchaffs, a Cetti’s Warbler, a pair of Stonechats and a Sparrowhawk. (Andy Jayne).

Cotswold Water Park West     Today at Shorncote Reedbed 11 Little Egrets, two Water Rail, five Chiffchaffs and a Stonechat. On Pit 44 121 Red Crested Pochards (77 drakes) and 15 Goosanders (8 drake). (Nigel Pleass).

Ashley     320+ Fieldfares, 40+ Redwings, four Stock Doves, 15+ Skylarks, 45+ Chaffinches, 100+ Linnets, a Kestrel, 6+ Reed Buntings, three Bullfinches and a Roe Deer. (Mark Grieve).

Saul     Three CATTLE EGRETS in horse paddocks on road to Arlingham after Cadbury bridge SO744085 at 9am today. (Mark Hobson).

Sharpness     Three BLACK REDSTARTS, two along Dock Road and one on Great Western Road today. (Andy Jordan/Paul Taylor). A male and female Peregrine on the silo at the Docks at lunchtime today. (Gord & Margaret Avery).

Walmore Common    Two WHOOPER SWANS and five Bewick’s Swans today. (Dave & Vanda Owen).

Forest of Dean    At Staple Edge a GREAT GREY SHRIKE and eight Crossbills. At Lightmoor a mixed flock of eight Siskins, two Lesser Redpolls and ten Goldfinches. (Dave & Vanda Owen).

Beachley Point    Three Oystercatchers, two WHIMBRELS, two Curlews, eight Redshanks, 24 Lapwings and c70 Dunlins today. (Dave & Vanda Owen).

Purton     At the Timber Ponds two Chiffchaffs and a Kingfisher today. Also 126 Pintails, c1000 Wigeon and c100 Dunlin. (Paul Taylor).

Frampton     At the pools two GREAT WHITE EGRETS, two Little Egrets, three Grey Herons, 80 Tufted Ducks, 35 Gadwall, 13 Pochards, three Shovelers, eight Great Crested Grebes, a Little Grebe and 30+ Lapwings today. (Nick Goatman). Four Green Sandpipers on the reed bed N of Splatt Bridge and a pair of Stonechats. (Paul Masters).

Stonehouse     Along the canal near St Cyr’s church a Buzzard and a Kingfisher. A Little Grebe near Bonds mill and a male Sparrowhawk. At Stanley Downton a male Sparrowhawk and three Cormorants. (Paul Sutton).
