WWT Slimbridge     From Middle Point 12 Golden Plovers, 358 Ringed Plovers, 275 Dunlins, 21 Sanderlings, six Little Stints, 13 Curlew Sandpipers, four Bar-tailed Godwits,  adult and juvenile Turnstone, four Ruff, four SPOONBILLS, two Great White Egrets, five Little Egrets and a Marsh Harrier. 15+ Yellow Wagtails on the Dumbles. . (Slimbridge Sightings/Ian Ralphs/Steve Pullen). On South Lake a Grey Heron with a Vole and 16+ Ruff. On the Tack Piece a Common Sandpiper and a Green Sandpiper. Shepherd’s Patch    28 Cattle Egrets in the field on the left before the pub at 7:45am. Eight were there yesterday.  (Mike Davis).

Saul Warth     Early morning at high tide, 107 Curlews, two Bar-tailed Godwits, two Common Sandpipers, 18 Shelducks, 12 Teal, a Little Egret, five Grey Herons, a Kestrel, five Pied Wagtails, a Grey Wagtail, male and female Blackcap, a Chiffchaff, 50+ Swallows moving SW, four Ravens and 20 Goldfinches. (MK). Also a Snipe, three Grey Herons, three Buzzards, a Southern Hawker, Common Darters and a Painted Lady. (Steve Pullen).

Elmore Court    In the Rewilding area this afternoon at least five each of Whinchats and Stonechats, a male Sparrowhawk, two Kestrels, a Cetti’s Warbler and ten Reed Buntings. Southbound migrants included 140+ Swallows, three Sand Martins and 15 Meadow Pipits. (Andy Jayne).

Painswick Beacon    This morning’s VisMig watch 2260 House Martins, 1150 Swallows and six Swifts. (John Fleming).

Nailsworth    VisMig from Windsoredge 1480+ House Martins, 320+ Swallows, one, possibly two Hobbies, a Sparrowhawk,10+ Buzzards, five Ravens, four Siskins, 45+ Goldfinches, seven Greenfinches, a Grey Wagtail and a Grey Heron. (Terry Grant).

The Campdens    30+ House Martins feeding over the fields between Chipping Campden and Broad Campden, and also pair of Ravens. (Malcolm Dunn).

Coombe Hill Meadows     A Grey Heron, five Mallards, three Moorhens, a Buzzard, a Skylark, five Swallows, three Chiffchaffs, ten Carrion Crows and five Linnets. (Mike Smart).

Wednesday 17th September 2025

Lydney     A MANX SHEARWATER drifted upriver past Lydney Harbour at 4pm. Also south of the harbour five Ringed Plovers, nine Sanderlings and 12 Black-tailed Godwits. (Andy Jayne).

Sharpness     At Coastguards from dawn to 9:30am four Arctic Terns, first seen off Middle Point, 25 Common Gulls, 14 Black-tailed Godwits N, a Common Sandpiper, a Curlew, seven Redshanks, 11 Shelducks, a juvenile Sparrowhawk, four Stock Doves, 45 Swallows and six Sand Martins. WWT Slimbridge    This morning from Middle Point four Arctic Terns (2 ads, 2 juvs) flew downriver, a large pale brown/sandy falcon (Lanner type), 15 Sanderlings, four Little Stints, seven Curlew Sandpipers, 68 Dunlins and 12 Ringed Plovers off the point. Also five Curlew Sandpipers amongst 100’s of small waders to the north, three SPOONBILLS and a Great White Egret. (Martin McGill).

Frampton pools     28 Siskins, two Hobbies, 30+ Sand Martins, 20+ Swallows, 10+ House Martins and 100+ Starlings today. (Nick Goatman).

Cashes Green     A Great White Egret flew SW at 11am. (Steve Kear).

Cheltenham    On a daily basis, two Peregrines can be seen towards the top left and top right of the exterior of Eagle Tower. This is on the side next to the Taj restaurant. (Nick Nelson).

Nailsworth     Sizeable flocks of House Martins and a few Swallows stopped off to feed in the valley in an all-day southerly movement throughout the day, which involved more than 800 birds during the time watched. Also two Willow Warblers in the garden. (Terry Grant).

WWT Slimbridge     A GLOSSY IBIS still around the grounds today. From Middle Point 150-200 Dunlins and Ringed Plovers, a Turnstone, a Bar-tailed Godwit, a Knot, 1+ Little Stint, 25 Sanderlings, two Curlew Sandpipers, two Greenshanks, two SPOONBILLS and an immature Peregrine. Sharpness     An intermediate juvenile LONG-TAILED SKUA drifted up on the river viewed from Coastguards early afternoon. It was last seen from Lydney at 2:25pm. (Andy Jordan). WWT Slimbridge     A GREY PHALAROPE on the Top New Piece from Zeiss hide until 1pm at least. (Martin McGill). Also a GLOSSY IBIS, a SPOONBILL, a Garganey and 17 Avocets. On the Rushy two Garganeys, eight Knot and five Spotted Redshanks. From Middle Point at least seven Little Stints, ten Curlew Sandpipers and 15 Sanderlings amongst the Dunlin and Ringed Plovers. Nailsworth     A Hobby hunting hirundines this morning during a small movement of 40+ House Martins and 20+ Swallows. (Terry Grant).

Longlevens    A female/juvenile Redstart in the garden sheltering from the strong wind under the Hydrangea, then finally had a bath and flew off north. (Dave Stone).

Cam     A Dipper on the River Cam at Littlecombe this morning. Also a Grey Wagtail. (Mike Davis).

Coombe Hill Meadows     A Buzzard, two Kestrels, 8+ Swallows, 6+ House Martins, a Linnet, 8+ Long-tailed Tits, a male Willow Emerald damselfly and a late male Southern Migrant Hawker. (Paul Clark).

Five SPOONBILLS around the site. From Middle Point four Golden Plovers, a Turnstone, 14+ Curlew Sandpipers, five Little Stints, 27 Avocets, eight Knot, 211+ Ringed Plovers, 300 Dunlins, 9+ Sanderlings, a Whimbrel and a Bar-tailed Godwit. Frampton     A LITTLE TERN on the sailing lake at 6pm until 7:50pm at least. Access tomorrow near impossible due to the Frampton Country Fair. (Nick Goatman).

Sharpness     A MANX SHEARWATER floated upriver past SARA at 11:25am. (Oliver Paisey). Unfortunately it was predated by gulls near Hock Cliff. (Martin McGill).

WWT Slimbridge     From Zeiss hide a GLOSSY IBIS, four SPOONBILLS and a Curlew Sandpiper. Four Mandarins in the Decoy. (Dot Jones/Mike Davis).

Chavenage Lane area     An OSPREY circled over at 11:25am then disappeared behind the clouds. Also eight Kestrels, three Red Kites, 11 Buzzards and a Whinchat. (Terry Grant).

Hardwicke     A ringtail HEN HARRIER flew over the road at Grove End at 10am. It flew over the trees on the horizon out of sight heading for Elmore. (MK).

Elmore Court     In the rewilding area this afternoon from the public footpath along Broadmeadow Bank a Whinchat, three Stonechats, five Swallows and five House Martins. (Mark Hobson).

Saul Warth     At high tide, 50+ Curlews, two Common Sandpipers, 50 Shelducks, 10+ Teal, four Little Egrets, 13 Common Cranes, a Grey Wagtail, a Blackcap, ten Swallows, two Sand Martins and two House Martins. (MK).

Tirley     At Town Street this morning two Yellow Wagtails, six Pied Wagtails, two Skylarks, two Meadow Pipits and four Chiffchaffs. (Paul Masters).

Sharpness     A MANX SHEARWATER off of SARA at 10:36am, it flew down river ditched in at SARA and drifted up on the flooding tide. Possibly the same as the Lydney bird. (Steve Rickard).

Saul Warth     Very wet and windy at high tide, 30 Curlews, five Common Sandpipers together, 12 Shelducks, 30 Teal, three Cattle Egrets, a Little Egret, 21 Common Cranes flew from Awre to WWT, a Kestrel, a Wheatear, a Grey Wagtail, a Chiffchaff, two Blackcaps, 20 Swallows and 35 Linnets. (MK).

A Pink-footed Goose, of unknown origin, with Canada Geese on the Dumbles. On South Lake 22 Ruff, two Spotted Redshanks and the Tundra Bean Goose, of unknown origin. Sharpness     From SARA this morning a MANX SHEARWATER flew upriver at 10:15am, presumably the same bird seen off of Middle Point and Saul Warth later, possibly 2 birds involved. Also a Goosander, two Hobbies, a Kestrel, a Red Kite, a Buzzard, 17 Shelducks, a Kingfisher and a Nuthatch. (Oliver Paisey).

WWT Slimbridge     A MANX SHEARWATER off of Middle Point. Also from Middle Point a Goosander (same as SARA bird), 200-300 Ringed Plovers and Dunlins, with at least two Bar-tailed Godwits, ten Sanderlings, a Turnstone, a Knot, a Curlew Sandpiper and a Whimbrel in the Curlew roost. Cambridge     A Ring-necked Parakeet on a garden feeder in Longaston Lane early afternoon. (Mrs Goatman per Nick Goatman).

Nailsworth     430 House Martins and 30+ Swallows flew S in 20 minutes (2 short counts) this morning, despite the rain. They were harried by a hunting Hobby. At 1:10pm c150 House Martins,with an undetermined number of Sand Martins, flew through in very murky conditions. Also four Siskins. (Terry Grant).

Cotswold Water Park West     Three BLACK TERNS late afternoon on Pit 57, but flew off S when the weather cleared. (David Creber).

Berkeley shore     The GLOSSY IBIS still at the Pill, with a Whinchat and a Mediterranean Gull nearby. (Andy Jordan).
