Coombe Hill Meadows    The drake RING-NECKED DUCK with Tufted Ducks again today but difficult to see at the north end on a strip of water straight out from Grundon hide and tight against the willows in the distance. This evening birds included 11 Mute Swans, 75 Greylags, 85 Canada Geese, 500 Wigeon, 1500 Teal, 30 Mallards. 343+ Pintails, 161+ Shovelers, a male Pochard, 15 Tufted Ducks, a Grey Heron, 20 Coots, two Common Gulls, 50+ Woodpigeon and 100+ Fieldfares. Awre     This morning at high tide two Buzzards, four Common Cranes, 500 Common Gulls, a Rock Pipit and four Stonechats. (Dave Paynter/Gordon Kirk/Mike Smart). An adult and a first-winter Yellow-legged Gull on the estuary this evening. Also 28 Fieldfares, 14 Linnets, 32+ Curlews, 800+ each of Lapwings and Golden Plovers. (Dan Watson).

Coombe Hill Meadows    A drake RING-NECKED DUCK with Tufted Ducks today but difficult to see at the north end. Also eight Egyptian Geese and nine Golden Plovers. Wellies essential. (Andy Jayne).

Forest of Dean     At Parkend four Hawfinches under the Yews alongside Crown Lane. Also a Nuthatch and a Coal Tit and Redwings on the cricket pitch. At Cannop Stoneworks, highlights around the feeders included a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a female Bullfinch, two Nuthatches and two Coal Tits. 14 Mandarins on the lake. At Cannop top pond a Buzzard, two Ravens, two Jays, five Mandarins, five Little Grebes and male and female Grey Wagtail. At Woorgreens five Goosanders. (Steve Brown). Huntley     A Water Rail at Huntley sewage treatment works today. (Owen Follis).

A Green Sandpiper on the flooded field by Berkeley Castle with a Grey Heron and two Moorhens at 12:10pm. On the Berkeley bypass floods 120+ Teal, six Shovelers, a Shelduck, nine Mallards, 38 Golden Plovers, 27+ Lapwings, a Little Egret, two Grey Herons, a Water Rail and four Moorhens. (Thomas McClung). Gloucester     A male BLACK REDSTART again in private gardens in the Linden area today after an absence of 13 days. Probably ranging around the industrial estate. (Megan Thornbury).

Shepherds Patch, Slimbridge    Four Cattle Egrets in the field opposite the car park today. (Terry Grant).

Ashleworth Ham     This afternoon birds included a Great White Egret, 19 Shovelers, four Gadwalls, 69 Pintails, 65 Mallards, 117 Teal, 300 Wigeon, a Grey Heron, a Canada Goose, a Peregrine, a Buzzard, a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, six Long-tailed Tits, 21 Chaffinches and a Roe Deer. Guscar Rocks/Aylburton Warth     WeBS count today birds included 14 Canada Geese, eight Shelducks, 128 Wigeon, 175 Teal, five Grey Herons, a Peregrine, a Golden Plover, a Lapwing, 120 Dunlins, ten Snipe, 120 Dunlins, 340 Curlews, 15 Redshanks, a Turnstone, two Skylarks, two Meadow Pipits and a Stonechat. Frampton     A male and female Goldeneye on the sailing lake. Also 200+ Lapwings flew N and three Reed Buntings this afternoon. (MK).

Berkeley    A GLOSSY IBIS flew over the road heading south between Hamfield Farm and Berkeley early afternoon. (David Creber). Cirencester    A female/juv MERLIN perched next to road near the old pig fields on the White Way from Cirencester towards Northleach around SP0302506212. (Dave Soons).

Duntisbourne Abbots     This morning c1000 Linnets, 750 Chaffinches and a minimum of 30 Bramblings in a set-aside field on the road from Duntisbourne Abbots to Jackbarrow Lane. (Duncan Dine).

WWT Slimbridge     The drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL on the Top New Piece still. The juvenile SPOONBILL still on South Lake. Also nine Avocets. A pair of WHOOPER SWANS with 68 Bewick’s Swans this morning. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Frampton pools     The adult Yellow-legged Gull, a male Goldeneye, seven Great Crested Grebes, 21 Gadwalls, four Shovelers, 122 Tufted Ducks, six Greylags, 39 Cormorants, a Peregrine, three Lesser Redpolls, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Blackcap, 150+ Fieldfares and 150+ Redwings today. Rendcomb     Near the surgery, a Goshawk flew over west, a Great White Egret on the flooded field to the south, a Little Egret, a Grey Heron, a Marsh Tit, a small flock of Long-tailed Tits and two Nuthatches. (Steve Brown).

Duntisbourne Abbots     A huge flock of several hundred finches, including several female and male Bramblings in a set-aside field on the road from Duntisbourne Abbots to Jackbarrow Lane. (Dave Soons).

Elmore Court     At the Rewilding Area this afternoon on the scrapes a Little Egret. Around the site two Buzzards, two Ravens, a Kestrel, two Green Woodpeckers, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, six Stock Doves, five Stonechats, six Redwings, four Fieldfares, 30 Meadow Pipits and 45 Linnets. (MK).

Cotswold Water Park East    80 Red Crested Pochards and a male Goosander on Pit 114 and a pair of Goosanders on Pit 111. (Ian Ralphs).

Stroud to Thrupp     At least three Water Rails between Lodgemore Lane and Griffin Mill this morning. Also two Cormorants and a pair of Mandarins at Bowbridge with the leucistic drake. (Paul Sutton).

Plusterwine    Between Plusterwine and Woolaston Grange at high tide this morning a Grey Heron, a Cormorant, 16 Canada Geese, three Shelduck, 25 Teal, 320 Wigeon, two Buzzards, three Lapwings, 23 Redshanks, an Oystercatcher, 340 Curlews, seven Snipe, five Collared Doves, a Grey Wagtail, a female Bullfinch, three Song Thrushes, a female Reed Bunting and 15 Meadow Pipits. Berkeley shore    307 Dunlins, nine Turnstones, ten Redshanks, two Curlews and eight Snipe in wader roosts. Also 30+ Meadow Pipits, two Rock Pipits, two Stonechats and a Reed Bunting. On fields to south 250+ mixed Redwings and Fieldfares, 11 Blackbirds, two Song Thrushes and seven Goldfinches. (John Fletcher). Also this afternoon a drake Goldeneye displaying to itself in the fog, a Peregrine flew in from Vicarage Road towards Claypits and roosted on a distant pylon. Also 12 Skylarks and 15 Meadow Pipits. Stroud to Thrupp    On a return walk along the Thames & Severn canal from Lodgemore, Stroud to Ham Mill, Thrupp this afternoon a Dipper at Ham Mill on the Frome, a Red Kite and a Treecreeper at Griffin’s Mill, an aberrant drake Mandarin at Bowbridge, two drake Mandarins and a Little Egret on Fromehall Millpond at Lodgemore. Fromebridge     Two Green Sandpipers flew up from the River Frome at Fromebridge Mill this morning, seen initially from the car park, then later a bit further down the river. Also two Curlews and a Kingfisher along the river. (Sue Beynon).

along the canal towpath, so the only approach possible is from the northern
side near Apperley. Birds today included three Mute Swans, 70 Wigeon, 750 Teal, 50 Mallards, 100 Pintails, 30 Shovelers and a Coot. (Mike Smart).

Maisemore     Mid afternoon Court Lake to the upper parting above the weir 129 Fieldfares, two Mallards, nine Moorhens, three Buzzards, 230 Black-headed Gulls, two Grey Herons, five Goldfinches, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, six Great Tits and seven Chaffinches. (John Fletcher).

WWT Slimbridge     A Goshawk on the Bottom New Piece viewed from Estuary Tower. (Warren Gill). The juvenile SPOONBILL back on South Lake. On the Rushy a WHOOPER SWAN and 67 Bewick’s Swans. On the Tack Piece 11 Ruff. (Slimbridge Sightings). Cotswold Water Park West     This afternoon at Pit 58 30 Goosanders (20m, 10f) and a Great White Egret. At Pit 57 four Goosanders (3m, 1f), a Great White Egret and a female Marsh Harrier. On Pit 16 an influx of 43 Great Crested Grebes. (Duncan Dine).

Frampton pools     Two male Red Crested Pochards at 8:45am but they didn’t linger, male and female Goldeneye, three Pochards, 104 Tufted Ducks, 32 Gadwalls, 22 Teal, 28 Mallards, 72 Shovelers, a Wigeon, 11 Little Grebes, eight Great Crested Grebes, ten Little Egrets, 222 Coots, 16 Moorhens, an adult Yellow-legged Gull, four Blackcaps, four Reed Buntings and two Cetti’s Warblers. (Nick Goatman). Also at the sailing lake 30 Redwings, two Fieldfares, a Mistle Thrush, eight Meadow Pipits and a Chiffchaff. (Ian Hull/MK).

Sharpness     A BLACK REDSTART in the docks again today. (Jordan Yates).

Over    At Over and the Leadon Meadows wildfowl on the ice included the family of five WHOOPER SWANS, seven Shovelers, 24 Mallards and two Pintails. Also a JACK SNIPE, seven Snipe and a Chiffchaff. (Andy Jayne).

Elmore Court     In the rewilding area this afternoon birds included a Yellowhammer, a scarce bird in the Vale and species No 103 for the site, four Stonechats, 40+ Linnets, a Snipe, a Little Egret, four Kestrels, four Great Spotted Woodpeckers, two Green Woodpeckers, five Goldcrests, two Reed Buntings and a Cetti’s Warbler. Berkeley shore     This morning birds included 257 Mallards, 81 Teal, 37 Wigeon, 38 Dunlins, 21 Redshanks, four Turnstones, 117 Common Gulls and three Great Black-backed Gulls. The female BLACK REDSTART showed well in the field immediately opposite the entrance to Hamfield Farm feeding around the cattle drinking trough. (Jon Haw).

Uley     A Goldcrest, two Bullfinches and a Grey Heron by Owlpen Manor stream. 14 Mandarins and 30 Mallard on Owlpen Farm lake and a male Blackcap on the garden feeder. (Tim Thompson).

Westonbirt     c90 Lapwings on the ground and later in flight, near Bowldown Farm. (Matt Neale).

Witcombe Reservoirs     WeBS count today birds included two Mute Swans, 286 Mallards, five Teal, three Tufted Ducks, a Little Grebe, three Great Crested Grebes, 13 Cormorants, 11 Moorhens, nine Coots, six Black-headed Gulls, a Common Gull and a Lesser Black-backed Gull. Also a Goldcrest, a Treecreeper, 15 Long-tailed Tits and 13 Siskins. (Gord Avery).

Shab Hill     A Red Kite, 58 Golden Plovers, a Lapwing and three Stock Doves today. (Gord Avery).
