Frampton     A HOOPOE flew over the sailing lake towards the Sailing Club at 7:45am and was heard calling but not relocated today. This evening five Cattle Egrets, four Little Egrets, a baby Tawny Owl and 50+ Swifts on Court Lake. (Nick Goatman).

WWT Slimbridge     The LITTLE TERN again on the river from Middle Point early morning. The SPOONBILL still from Zeiss hide, also a Cattle Egret. (Slimbridge Sightings). It was seen very briefly and distant at 10:40am but didn’t reappear. (Paul Rich). Later the male WHITE-SPOTTED BLUETHROAT still in the reedbeds at Middle Point from the Shepherds Hut today. Cleeve Hill     This afternoon five Corn Buntings, one on the track between the Common and Wontley Farm and four on West Down. A Tree Pipit on the track between Wontley Farm and the Common. Other species included Yellowhammer, Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Stonechat, a Red Kite, a Kestrel and a Buzzard. (Ed Kennerley).

Stroud     At Frome Banks N.R. today a Firecrest, a Goldcrest, a Bullfinch, a Song Thrush, a Dipper, a Buzzard bathing and an Otter. (Gerard Doran).

Moreton Valence     A Red Kite over the Old Airfield at 1:35pm. (MK).

Wednesday 4th June 2025

WWT Slimbridge     A LITTLE TERN off of Middle Point at 1pm for 40 minutes only on and off. The male WHITE-SPOTTED BLUETHROAT still in the reedbeds at Middle Point from the Shepherds Hut today. (Ian Ralphs). A SPOONBILL again from Zeiss hide. Distantly from the Estuary Tower this morning 40 Ringed Plovers, 39 Sanderlings, 50 Dunlins, ten Curlews and a Whimbrel. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Frampton     A BLACK REDSTART briefly in the churchyard at 7am, but not further sign by 10am or in another search at lunchtime. (Steve Pullen). At Splatt Bridge early morning 23 Barnacle Geese and the Ross’s Goose flew S, three Mandarins flew N, a Common Tern, a Cuckoo calling, six Swallows, three Swifts, five House Martins, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, three Reed Warblers and  a family of 6+ Greenfinches. WWT Slimbridge    From Middle Point a SANDWICH TERN and an ARCTIC TERN in the estuary this morning. From Estuary Tower 69 Dunlins, ten Ringed Plovers and 28 Sanderlings. The male WHITE-SPOTTED BLUETHROAT still in the reedbeds at Middle Point from the Shepherds Hut today. Three Mediterranean Gulls on the Rushy. One of the gulls is Irish ringed. Saul Warth     At high tide early afternoon three Mediterranean Gulls on plough behind the sewage works, 36 Shelducks, seven Oystercatchers, three Curlews, 30 Dunlins, a male Marsh Harrier, a male Kestrel, four Stock Doves, two Skylarks and two Linnets. (MK/Les Ditchburn).

Forest of Dean     A brood of fledged Hawfinches in Crabtree woods today. (Rob Husbands).

Cotswold Water Park West     At Shorncote Reedbeds this evening birds included a Mute Swan pair with six cygnets, a pair of Shelducks with two ducklings, a Cuckoo, a Kestrel, a Grey Heron, a Great White Egret, a Common Tern, a Chiffchaff, a Blackcap, a Reed Bunting, ten Swifts, a Reed Warbler, a Sedge Warbler, two Garden Warblers, a Cetti’s Warbler and a Whitethroat. Monday 2nd June 2025

WWT Slimbridge     The male WHITE-SPOTTED BLUETHROAT still in the reedbeds at Middle Point from the Shepherds Hut today. Also a Grasshopper Warbler reeling briefly. (Slimbridge Sightings). Around the grounds today a male Marsh Harrier, a Red Kite, a Cattle Egret, four Mediterranean Gulls (1 first-summer, 3 3cy) and a Great White Egret. (Craig Brookes).

Bourton-on-the-Water     A Cuckoo singing near the south pits. (Andy Lewis).

Frampton     At Court Lake this morning two Spotted Flycatchers, a Cuckoo calling regularly, a Common Tern, Reed Warblers, Chiffchaffs and a family of five Great Crested Grebes. (Mike Davis). From Splatt Bridge early morning two Cuckoos calling, two Common Cranes over, a Buzzard being harassed by Carrion Crows. Also eight Reed Warblers, two Sedge Warblers, two Cetti’s Warblers, four Whitethroats and five Reed Buntings in the canal side reedbeds. (Steve Pullen).

Saul     At Saul junction this morning two adult Greylags and two goslings, two adult Great Crested Grebes with a chick, a Moorhen with two chicks, two adult Mute Swans and eight cygnets, 12 Swallows, two House Martins, two Reed Warblers and several singing Cetti’s Warbler with two seen. Ashleworth Ham     A ringing session caught 36 birds including a Redstart, four Sedge Warblers, ten Whitethroats, a Chiffchaff, three Goldfinches and a juvenile Reed Bunting. Around the reserve four Greylags, 20 Mallards, a Great White Egret, a Grey Heron, two Red Kites, a Peregrine, a Curlew, a Cuckoo, five Skylarks, three Redstarts, three Sedge Warblers, five Whitethroats, two Lesser Whitethroats, two Chiffchaffs and five Reed Buntings. Frampton pools     Around the pools the first young Tawny Owl out, five Cattle Egrets, two Spotted Flycatchers, the third brood of Great Crested Grebe chicks, a Raven with two young, a male Yellowhammer singing, a Barn Owl, five Common Terns, a male Goldeneye, 10+ Swifts and an Oystercatcher with three chicks. Cassey Compton     A Barn Owl alongside the road from Compton Abdale at 7:15am. In the vicinity of the hamlet three Red Kites, three Buzzards, a male Kestrel, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Jay, two Cormorants, a Grey Heron, a Stock Dove and singing birds including a Tree Pipit, a Redstart. a Yellowhammer and several Linnets. Forest of Dean     A male Redstart in trees opposite Speech House on the Sculpture trail track. (Geoff Fawcett).
