WWT Slimbridge This morning the SPOTTED CRAKE still from the Van den Bovencamp hide along South Finger on the Dragonfly pond. A Curlew Sandpiper on South Lake and two juvenile Little Stints from Zeiss hide. Also two Green Sandpipers, c100 Black-tailed Godwits and c10 Ruff. (Derek Hale). Pic by Derek. Coombe Hill Meadows From the Grundon hide a juvenile Marsh Harrier, a Kestrel, a female Sparrowhawk, two Buzzards, three Corn Buntings, two Jays, three Grey Herons, two Little Egrets, Meadow Pipits, Linnets, a Raven, a Stock Dove, Long-tailed Tits, Lapwings, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a mixed flock of c300 Swallows and House Martins feeding. Forest of Dean At Blaize Bailey at 4pm a pair of Goshawks in display flight with talon grabbing for about 5 minutes above the field at the bottom of the garden. They then flew off together. This evening at 6:30pm a juvenile Goshawk perched in a tree at the field edge. (Peter Boorman & Lynne Mayers).
