Forest of Dean     In the lower woods at Nagshead by the road two male Pied Flycatchers, two Spot Flycatchers, a female Redstart and a Garden Warbler. Also three Treecreepers and a pair of Grey Wagtails on the stream. (MK). At St Briavels on garden feeders still one male Siskin. (Bob Broughton).

Highnam Woods     Hawfinches feeding young, and at least nine singing Nightingales this morning. Highnam Woods car park will be open this weekend 10am-4pm. (RSPB Gloucestershire).

Coombe Hill Meadows     From the Grundon hide, birds included two Little Ringed Plovers, a Curlew, a Redshank, a Grey Heron and four Lapwings. Also three Cuckoos, four Treecreepers, a Kestrel, two Buzzards, several singing Sedge Warblers, Reed Warblers and Blackcaps, two Willow Warblers and a Whitethroat. Also seven Orange Tips, five Brimstones, two Green-veined Whites and at least ten Azure Damselflies. Frampton     A Little Ringed Plover still by the Sailing Lake early morning, also four Common Terns and two Cuckoos and a Yellow Wagtail at Splatt Bridge. (Gordon Hodgson).

Batsford Arboretum     Two Jays, a Nuthatch back and forth at a nest hole, a Coal Tit, three Blackcaps and several Chiffchaffs. (Andy & Sue Gibbons).

Ashley     A distant calling Cuckoo today. (Mark Grieve).

Hempsted     At Netheridge Farm this evening a Barn Owl with prey, two male Cuckoos singing, a Lesser Whitethroat and seven Swifts. (Mark Hobson).

Ashleworth Ham     This evening birds included a female Pintail, two Red-legged Partridges, two Lapwings, two Curlews, two Shelducks, male and female Teal, a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, a male Reed Bunting, two Nuthatches, two Buzzards,a male Blackcap and two Chiffchaffs. (John Fletcher).

My name is Mike King and have lived all my life in Gloucestershire. I am happiest birding around Frampton but I especially love Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
