Purton Two GRASSHOPPER WARBLERS still between Purton and Sharpness this morning, both singing at 8:30am. One at the S end of the Timber Ponds, one in the riverside reedbed just N of the old bridge. (Andy Jordan).
Frampton Four BLACK TERNS on the Sailing Lake all day. Around the pools four Greenshanks, seven Common Terns, a Yellow-legged Gull, four Oystercatchers, two Hobbies, a Goshawk, a Sparrowhawk, 6+ Sand Martins, nine Chiffchaffs, 15 Blackcaps, a singing Reed Warbler by the Sailing Club and another in the Blue Pool and one by Nastfield Farm. Cleeve Hill At Bill Smyllie reserve SO 993244 today Tree Pipits, Skylarks, Meadow Pipits, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Whitethroat, two Blackcaps and a Kestrel. Other sightings included Green Hairstreak, Orange Tip, Small Blue, Brimstone, Large and Small White, Small Heath, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell and Dingy Skipper butterflies and a Sloe Bug. Netheridge Farm A Red Kite flew NE over the Barn Owl Centre today at 7:40am. (Mark Hobson).
Forest of Dean A Red Kite circled over the Lydney Lake at 12:15pm before flying off towards Lydney Harbour and the River Severn. On the River Lydd beside the lake Canada Geese with two goslings, 13 goslings and six goslings. Also a Mandarin with six young and Mute Swan with three young on the lake. (Bob Broughton).
Cirencester Park In Oakley Wood a singing Redstart, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Nuthatch and a Buzzard. Also many Pearl-bordered Fritillaries. (Steve Brown).
