Frampton A pair of Avocets with 2 possibly 3 recently hatched chicks on the flashes N of Splatt Bridge. Also two GREAT WHITE EGRETS and three CATTLE EGRETS over the 100-Acre this evening. At the pools between 12-2pm three Red Kites, 3+ Buzzards, a Peregrine, a male Cuckoo, a pair of Yellow Wagtails, four Common Terns, three Cetti’s Warblers heard, a Reed Warbler, seven Linnets, a Jay and a Scarce Chaser, a female Black-tailed Skimmer and Emperor dragonflies. Longney This evening at 9:05pm a Barn Owl flew across the road at Wicks Green, Longley. (Ian Elphick).
Coombe Hill Meadows Late evening three Mute Swans, three adult Canada Geese with six goslings, 20 Mallards including a female with seven ducklings, nine Grey Herons, three Little Egrets, two Cormorants over, a pair of Coots by the Wharf with four chicks, two Oystercatchers, two adult Lapwings and a full grown juvenile, nine Curlews came in to roost after 9pm (including the ringed Blue Red Red from the estuary in 2010, and AJ ringed at Hasfield Ham earlier this year), the QUAIL still singing from fields along the canal, a Cuckoo, a female Yellow Wagtail, a Sedge Warbler and a Reed Bunting.
