Forest of Dean A Hawfinch and a male Brambling at Parkend Church today. (Merv Carlyon/John Salmon). A Woodcock flushed at Mitcheldean Meend. Around Wigpool Common two Crossbills and four Siskins over and a Muntjac. (Paul Masters). At New Fancy View four Goshawks, three Buzzards, a Peregrine, two Ravens and a pair of Bullfinches. At Parkend a Mistle Thrush. On Cannop top pond four Little Grebes, five Goosanders (1m, 4f) and on the bottom pond three Goosanders (1m, 2f) and a Grey Wagtail. (Martin Price). WWT Slimbridge From the Zeiss and Van de Bovenkamp hides birds included a Red Kite, 200+ Black-tailed Godwits, 20+ Knot, 200+ Golden Plovers, 500+ Lapwings, 32+ Avocets, a Little Stint, two Snipe and a Little Egret. Cheltenham On Pittville boating lake a Common Gull and a male Great Crested Grebe. The male Kingfisher is not showing very much at all and may have moved on. Lots of small bird activity in the park with regular sightings of Blackcap, Wren, Goldcrest, Goldfinch, Greenfinch and Jay. (Alan McIlquham).
