Forest of Dean At Crabtree Hill the GREAT GREY SHRIKE again this morning. Please keep to the public footpaths and stay out of the clearfell. Also a Goshawk over. A very large mixed flock (200+) of mainly Chaffinches with Bramblings and a few Tit species at the Forestry Commission area at bottom of road S past New Fancy View (right turn to Parkend), all eventually moved E through trees. Frampton A Marsh Harrier from Splatt Bridge this morning, 13 Pintails, two Snipe, a Blackcap and 140 Golden Plovers through S. (Gordon Hodgson). A Yellow-legged Gull back on the Sailing Lake shed today, also around the pools 55 Tufted Ducks, 34 Mallards, 11 Gadwalls, 11 Great Crested Grebes, a Little Grebe, two male Blackcaps and a roosting Tawny Owl. Cotswold Water Park West An adult and a 3rd year Yellow-legged Gull on Pit 12 this evening with 300 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 200+ Black-headed Gulls and four Herring Gulls. (Mark Coller).
Maisemore Along Church Road, from the lake to the weir this afternoon birds included two Little Grebes, 45 Mallards, two Mute Swans, three Song Thrushes, a Mistle Thrush, 60+ Redwings, 30+ Fieldfares, a Green Woodpecker, three Goldfinches, two Buzzards and a Cormorant. (John Fletcher).
