WWT Slimbridge A Barn Owl briefly inside the nest box at Kingfisher hide at 11:36pm for a few minutes. Also around the grounds a 2cy Mediterranean Gull, two Hobbies, a Sparrowhawk, a Jay, a Mistle Thrush and a Grass Snake. A BITTERN flew towards Purton at 12:53pm. (Oliver Paisey).
Saul Warth At 6am for high tide 67 Shelducks including seven ducklings, a Grey Plover, a Whimbrel flew off N, two Avocets, five Oystercatchers, 14 Curlews, a Ringed Plover, a Redshank, two Little Egrets, eight Swallows, a Lesser Whitethroat, a Grey Wagtail, a Meadow Pipit, scarce this year, and a male Reed Bunting. Haw Bridge to Chaceley This morning a Grey Heron, a Curlew, QUAIL flushed from underfoot, 1+ Cuckoo, three Skylarks, two Swallows, a House Martin, a Sand Martin, 3+ Redstarts, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Sedge Warbler, 3+ Whitethroats, 2+ Lesser Whitethroat.s, 5+ Blackcaps, two Chiffchaffs, 20 Carrion Crows, 20 Jackdaws, two Linnets and 5+ Reed Buntings. Coombe Hill Meadows From 6:30 to 9am four Little Ringed Plovers, a drake Pintail, a drake Wigeon, Gadwall, Mallard, Mute Swan, Redstart, 5+ Sedge Warblers, 3+ Reed Buntings, two Yellow Wagtails, four Whitethroats, four Chiffchaffs, six Blackcaps, a Little Egret, a Grey Heron, two Oystercatchers with four young, a Lapwing with young, a Curlew heard bubbling, two Redshanks, a Treecreeper and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. Woodchester Park Two Firecrests, a Nuthatch, two Treecreepers bringing grubs in and out of tree hollow, a Redstart heard and a Whitethroat and a Lesser Whitethroat in the shrubs near Twinkley Gate car park. (Harrison Rowsell).
Randwick A Spotted Flycatcher today feeding from a dead tree in the woods at the top of Randwick. A probable second bird was calling to it nearby but not seen. (Rosy & Mrs Kear per Steve Kear).
Cleeve Hill At the two butterfly reserves by the Cleeve Hill aerials this afternoon, two Ravens on the aerials, a singing Tree Pipit in each reserve, also a few Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers. Butterflies included good numbers of Small Heath, Small Blue and Common Blue with a few Adonis Blues. Also seen two Marsh Fritillaries, a worn Duke of Burgundy, a Brown Argus, a Painted Lady, a Red Admiral and a Speckled Wood. Moths included a few Chimney Sweepers and Six Spot Burnets, a Small Yellow Underwing, a Burnet Companion and a Lace Border. (Keith White).
