From the Estuary Tower a Marsh Harrier hunting the fields, five Mediterranean Gulls, ten Grey Plovers, six Bar-tailed Godwits, eight unringed Cranes and seven Dunlins. Lydney     Along the river from the Harbour this morning three Wheatears, 30 Shelducks, 100 Curlews, ten Redshanks, a Rock Pipit and a Cetti’s Warbler heard. (David Smith).

Chedworth     A male Wheatear and male Stonechat on the airfield this afternoon, also mobile flocks of Skylarks and Linnets. Nearby in arable fields a 60+ mixed finch flock including 22 Yellowhammers feeding in the shelter of a dense hedgerow. Also the first Spring Lapwing back on a traditional site. (Harvey Sherwood).

Breadstone     In local woods this morning birds included a Goldcrest, a Treecreeper, two Coal Tits, a Mistle Thrush, c25 Fieldfares, a pair of displaying Buzzards and a Peregrine over. (Chris Newton).

Tewkesbury     At Mythe Brook 29 Black-tailed Godwits, 78 Wigeon, 23 Shovelers, eight Pintails and two Little Egrets (Dan Gornall).

Minsterworth Ham     Four pairs of Mallards, a pair of Shovelers, three Cormorants, two Buzzards, four Curlews, 3-4 singing Skylarks, 110 Fieldfares, nine Lesser Black-backed Gulls and two Herring Gulls on the ground and up to 100 in flight, 50 Black-headed Gulls and 50 Carrion Crows on arable; 7+ Chiffchaffs singing and 100 Starlings. Twyning     The second-winter ICELAND GULL on the Great Hay Meadow again from 9:15-9:30am viewed from Dock Lane picnic site, Bredon (Worcs) but always quite distant. (Les Ditchburn). It returned at 1:31pm to the gull roost but only for an hour before flying off over the motorway. Also 12 Curlews, one with yellow tags, seven Shovelers (4m, 3f), a Red Kite, three Buzzards, a pair of Oystercatchers and a Kingfisher. (MK).

Twyning     At Upham Meadow a sub-adult male Peregrine caught and ate a Black-headed Gull, two Oystercatchers, six Curlews (four of them colour-ringed, two males ringed here in 2021, a female ringed and satellite tagged here in 2022 which wintered in Portugal and is now back; another female with a satellite tag marked in Devon where it had wintered, now back, as last year), at least 200 Herring Gulls and Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the floodwater, at least 50 Black-headed Gulls, at least 50 Carrion Crows and two Skylarks. Forest of Dean     At Cannop Ponds this morning two Dippers, five Grey Wagtails, two Pied Wagtails, ten Wigeon, five Tufted Ducks, four Greylags, five Song Thrushes, a Mistle Thrush, three Treecreepers, a Siskin on the feeders and a Water Rail out in the open before skulking back into the reeds. Awre    Early afternoon the RICHARD’S PIPIT still at SO7205908775 feeding in tractor tracks between the obvious lone bush and the shoreline reedbed. Two Great Crested Grebes and two female Goosanders on the river. (Jeremy Holland). Park at the church and follow the footpath out to the shoreline. Frampton pools     Ten Sand Martins, a juvenile male Goldeneye, two Egyptian Geese, a pair of Oystercatchers, two Kingfishers, a Raven, two Nuthatches, two Reed Buntings, two Meadow Pipits, a Chiffchaff and a Cetti’s Warbler today. Also today two Mute Swans, five Greylags, five Canada Geese, two Shelducks, 500 Wigeon, 35 Gadwalls, 110 Teal, 40 Mallards, 13 Pintails, 50 Shovelers, ten Tufted Ducks, two Grey Herons, 20 Coots, a male Ruff, 15 Fieldfares and six Carrion Crows.
