Sharpness     From the Lifeboat Station by the public car park from 10:30-11:45am when the tide began ebb a FULMAR flew upstream on the tide being harassed by an adult Yellow-legged Gull at 10:52am. Also two Great Black-backed Gulls and four Cormorants on the dock arms. Three Ravens in the area, a pair flew past the dock entrance and one came from over the river. Saul Warth     An adult KITTIWAKE flew N over Hock Ditch at 10am, then back downriver at 11:15am. An immature KITTIWAKE flew through S at 12:20pm. The FULMAR relocated on the water at midday, it couldn’t take off and eventually went down on the tide. Also the Common Sandpiper for the first time since Jan 2nd, a Lapwing, three Curlews, seven Common Gulls, a Shelduck and two Meadow Pipits. (MK).

WWT Slimbridge    The first-winter drake SCAUP still on South Lake this afternoon. (Lisa Hume). An adult winter Mediterranean Gull with Black-headed Gulls along the approach road in fields at 8:45am and later on South Lake. (Mark Dowie). From the Estuary Tower birds over the flooded Tack Piece included several thousand Lapwings, Golden Plovers and Black-tailed Godwits, also many Dunlins, Wigeon and Greylags and smaller numbers of Shelducks, Ruff and Redshanks. Forest of Dean     This morning two Hawfinches and a Dipper behind The Fountain Inn at Parkend. At Cannop ponds three Bullfinches, six Goosanders, seven Tufted Ducks, a Wigeon, a female Gadwall and 15+ Mandarins on a flooded area to the side of the upper lake. Also a Marsh Tit on the feeders. Prestbury     At 2:29pm a Kingfisher flew towards Shaw Green Lane from Mill Street. It landed in the copse at the E end of Shaw Green Lane near the almost dried up pool, then flew N. (Ken Heron).

Cirencester area     Several hundred Starlings feeding on muddy outdoor pig fields S of Down’s Farm (SP033065) and c250 Lapwings resting on adjacent wet grassland. Flocks of >80 Redwings/Fieldfares on the last hawthorn berries and scores of Goldfinches foraging in nearby winter bird seed plots. (Harvey Sherwood).

Taddington     At lunchtime today, six Skylarks calling, at least 24 Fieldfares and a Buzzard. (Andrew Worthington).
