Ashleworth Ham     72 birds of 13 species caught in a ringing session. Stinchcombe Hill     A dark chocolate HONEY BUZZARD over at 7:05pm heading towards Uley being mobbed by c100 hirundines. This morning the first big movement of Meadow Pipits over this autumn, some grounded, together with steady movement of hirundines, including Sand Martins, three Yellow Wagtails over and two Kestrels and still 30+ Pied Wagtails. Aylburton Warth/Guscar Rocks     WeBS count today included ten Canada Geese, six Mallard, 12 Teal, 13 Grey Herons, two Little Egrets, six Cormorants, five Ringed Plovers, two Snipe, 13 Knot, 540 Curlews (including five of the youngsters raised and released at Slimbridge in 2019, one of the chicks ringed along the Avon valley in summer 2022, and at least 15 of the adults colour-ringed nearby between 2010 and 2013), a Redshank, three Common Sandpipers, 60 Black-headed Gulls and a Common Gull. Other species included three Skylarks, 53 Swallows, two Yellow Wagtails, 35 Meadow Pipits, a Whinchat, 40 Carrion Crows, at least six singing Chiffchaffs and a Reed Bunting. (Martin McGill). The BLUETHROAT again on the sticks at Middle Point briefly at 2:25pm and again at 3:10pm, seen from the Shepherd’s Hut. It appeared when the sun returned after rain. It flew up to the same perch several times over about 2 minutes, flying back down into the reeds each time. Also two Whinchats, 4-5 Yellow Wagtails, several Reed Buntings, a Reed Warbler, a juvenile Kingfisher in the rhine behind the Shepherd’s Hut, two Kestrels, and in the hedges below Estuary Tower two Whitethroats, two Lesser Whitethroats and a female Blackcap. On the Rushy, a Spotted Redshank, a Greenshank, six Snipe, an Avocet, two Ruffs, six Redshanks, two Green Sandpipers and 10+ Black-tailed Godwits. From the Estuary Tower and Summer Walkway, two Whinchats, eight Yellow Wagtails, 8-10 Linnets, a female Reed Bunting, four Meadow Pipits, 60+ Swallows, 15 Cranes, 70+ Curlew, three Grey Herons and four Little Egrets. Frampton     Two juvenile BLACK TERNS until 8:30am, an adult Yellow-legged Gull, a Grey Wagtail and a male Pochard on the Sailing Lake. Two Great White Egrets, 11 Little Egret on Court lake and still lots of Sand Martins. (Nick Goatman). A BLACK TERN back on the Sailing Lake at 5:30pm. (Paul Masters).

Forest of Dean    Between Clearwell and Newland a Barn Owl flying at 9:55am in bright sunshine. (Alan Waterman).

Stroud    Two Dippers at Fromebanks N.R. on the River Frome. Also a Mandarin, a Grey Heron and a Kingfisher. (Mike Davis).

Epney     At 11am six Curlews, at least four Common Gulls, two Yellow Wagtails, a Little Egret and two Chiffchaffs. (Steve Pullen).

Saul Warth     Late morning 25 Yellow Wagtails, two Wheatears, a Mistle Thrush, six Meadow Pipits, 40+ Curlews, 12 Avocets and three Buzzards. (Steve Pullen).
