Longney     This afternoon birds included five Chiffchaffs, a Blackcap, a Sedge Warbler heard, seven Linnets, a Buzzard and a Little Egret. (John Fletcher).

Guscar Rocks    On the high tide18 Greylags, 90 Canada Geese, two Wigeon, two Grey Herons, Ringed Plover heard, at least 500 Curlews, a Willow Warbler singing and at least six Chiffchaffs, some singing. (Mike Smart).

Stinchcombe Hill     A dark chocolate HONEY BUZZARD over at 7:05pm heading towards Uley being mobbed by c100 hirundines. This morning the first big movement of Meadow Pipits over this autumn, some grounded, together with steady movement of hirundines, including Sand Martins, three Yellow Wagtails over and two Kestrels and still 30+ Pied Wagtails. Berkeley Pill     A KITTIWAKE flew down river at high tide this morning. Also 30 Wigeon, 45 Mallard, one Teal, two Gadwalls, 81 Redshanks, 43 Dunlins with a Ringed Plover, a female Marsh Harrier, two Buzzards and 49 Black-headed Gulls. (Dave Emery).

Forest of Dean     At Blaize Bailey woods this morning two Redstarts, three Spotted Flycatchers, a Goshawk sparring with a Raven for over 10 minutes, three Buzzards, three Nuthatches and a Jay. Also a Clouded Yellow and two Roe Deer. (Dave Smith).

Hornsleasow Roughs     A minimum of four Spotted Flycatchers, a Redstart and a Stonechat near Snowshill at SP117323. (Duncan Dine).

Cotswold Water Park East    WeBS highlights on Pit 127 a Kingfisher, a Snipe, a Green Sandpiper, six Lapwings and three Egyptian Geese. On Pit 126 a Little Grebe, ten Wigeon and an Egyptian Goose. On Pit 125 a Water Rail heard and three Herring Gulls. On Pit 116 a Common Sandpiper. (John Durell).

Aylburton Warth/Guscar Rocks     WeBS count today included ten Canada Geese, six Mallard, 12 Teal, 13 Grey Herons, two Little Egrets, six Cormorants, five Ringed Plovers, two Snipe, 13 Knot, 540 Curlews (including five of the youngsters raised and released at Slimbridge in 2019, one of the chicks ringed along the Avon valley in summer 2022, and at least 15 of the adults colour-ringed nearby between 2010 and 2013), a Redshank, three Common Sandpipers, 60 Black-headed Gulls and a Common Gull. Other species included three Skylarks, 53 Swallows, two Yellow Wagtails, 35 Meadow Pipits, a Whinchat, 40 Carrion Crows, at least six singing Chiffchaffs and a Reed Bunting. Stinchcombe Hill     This evening a first-winter Wheatear, at least seven Spotted Flycatchers on the southern slopes, a few Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps and southerly moving Swallows. Also a Hummingbird Hawk Moth. (James Robinson).

Coombe Hill Meadows    This morning several Green Woodpeckers, a Hobby, a Grey Wagtail, a Kingfisher and a Wheatear. (Jeremy Holland).

Stroud     A narrow-winged ringtail Harrier species flew N over Stroud at 1:50pm. (Francis Steuck).

Cheltenham     A Yellow Wagtail flew over W at Benhall at 12:45pm, a garden tick. (Ian Ralphs).

Ashleworth Ham     A ringing session saw 160 birds caught including a Redstart, three Lesser Whitethroats, nine Blackcaps, a Whitethroat, 25 Chiffchaffs, two Willow Warblers, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 30 Long-tailed Tits, a Treecreeper, 50 Goldfinches and three Greenfinches. WWT Slimbridge     A WHITE-SPOTTED BLUETHROAT at Middle Point up on the sticks briefly at 9:30am. c21 Common Terns and, at least one adult Arctic Tern and an adult non-breeding plumage BLACK TERN and a Barn Owl in the Shepherds Hut and subsequently hunting the seawall. (Martin McGill). The BLUETHROAT again on the sticks at Middle Point briefly at 2:25pm and again at 3:10pm, seen from the Shepherd’s Hut. It appeared when the sun returned after rain. It flew up to the same perch several times over about 2 minutes, flying back down into the reeds each time. Frampton     From Splatt Bridge at midday three Buzzards, three Kestrels, a Red Kite over and a Kingfisher. Also a steady stream of Swallows and Martins going south. (Paul Sutton).

Purton     Near the hulks c150 Canada Geese on the river with two white Domestic Geese moving N with the tide. Also c50 more Canada Geese over going N, three Cormorants, two Curlews and two Little Egrets. (Paul Sutton).

Ashleworth Ham     During a ringing session birds caught included a Redstart, a Sedge Warbler, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Lesser Whitethroat, four Whitethroats, six Blackcaps, 22 Chiffchaffs, a Reed Bunting, 38 Long-tailed Tits, a Treecreeper, 12 Goldfinches and three Bullfinches.
