Stow-on-the-Wold     A BLUE ROCK THRUSH of unknown origin still present today in Fishers Close and surrounding streets and showing well. Strictly no parking in Fishers Close, there is a public car park near the Bell pub 5 minutes walk away or find alternative parking in the town. Please show the residents respect and as much privacy as is possible. There will be a collection for Kate’s Home Nursing  please give generously on site or on-line. Cotswold Water Park West          This morning three Little Egrets, 100+ Teal, a Shoveler, five Water Rails, four Snipe, c120 Lapwings, three Meadow Pipits, two male Stonechats, ten Bullfinches, eight Reed Buntings, four Cetti’s Warblers, three Chiffchaffs, 200+ Fieldfares and Redwings and two Ravens over. (Jon Mercer).

Ashley     22 Blackbirds, 89+ Redwings, 133+ Fieldfares, two Pied Wagtails, 15+ Goldfinches, a drumming Greater Spotted Woodpecker, four Stock Doves, a Nuthatch, three Bullfinches, a Goldcrest, 15+ Yellowhammers, 65+ Linnets, eight Skylarks, 50+ Chaffinches, 250+ Woodpigeons, three Meadow Pipits, a male and a female Stonechat, a Jackdaw killed a House Sparrow on feeders and a Tawny Owl calling at 4:50pm today. (Mark Grieve).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Four Shelducks, 110 Wigeon including a leucistic bird, 210 Teal, two Gadwalls, 30 Mallards, two Pintails, nine Shovelers, two Grey Herons, two Coot, a Snipe, 50 Fieldfares, 20 Redwings and two Reed Buntings. (Mike Smart).

Ashleworth Ham     60 Greylags, 56 Canada Geese, 130 Wigeon, 625 Teal, two Pintails, two Grey Herons, a Lapwing and 30 Snipe. (Les Brown/Mike Smart).

Westonbirt     Near Bowlsdown Farm this afternoon: 2000+ Fieldfares and 2300+ Redwings feeding in fields and flying in from other areas. (Terry Grant).

Oldbury-on-the-Hill     500+ Fieldfares and 300+ Redwings and two Stonechats today. (Terry Grant).

Symonds Yat    The Peregrine pair, two female Goshawks, two Buzzards, four Ravens, a Grey Heron, three Jays, five Bullfinches (3m,2f), a Mistle Thrush, two Song Thrushes, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Kingfisher, a Goldcrest and three Fallow Deer today. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Newent    A very large flock of Fieldfares has been present for over a week around orchards in Kent’s Green near Newent.  There were 100+ still this morning. (Rob Guest).

May Hill     A Stock Dove singing this morning and a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming. (Rob Guest).

Monday 26th December 2016

Hawling     A GREAT GREY SHRIKE in the hedgerow by the side of the main road to Bourton-on-the-Water, at the second turn off to Hawling. It caught a female Yellowhammer and flew with it across the field to hawthorn bushes. After  a couple of minutes it was spooked by a car passing close by and lost to view. Cinderford     Four WAXWINGS mid morning and an adult male BLACK REDSTART again today at Valley Road. (Piers Suckling).

Duntisbourne Abbots     A Red Kite over the A417 today. (Mark Grieve).

Winstone     c150 Golden Plover near The Highwayman pub W of the A417. (Jon Mercer).

Crickley Hill    A Brambling with Chaffinches mid-morning. (Jon Mercer).

Gloucester     At Horsebere Brook Flood Storage Area this afternoon 12 Snipe, two Grey Herons, a Little Egret, a Water Rail, two Stonechats and a female Pintail. (Michael Force).

Ashley    195+ Fieldfares, 18+ Yellowhammers, 45+ Linnets, a male Sparrowhawk, 200+ Redwings, a Stock Dove, eight Skylarks, two Pied Wagtail, a Jay, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Meadow Pipit over and 30+ Goldfinches today. (Mark Grieve).

Woodmancote    Four Lesser Redpolls, five Blackcaps (3m, 2f), c15 Chaffinches and c30 Goldfinches in the garden today. (John Widgery).

Cinderford     Three WAXWINGS at 12:30pm and an adult male BLACK REDSTART again today at Valley Road. (Piers Suckling).

Forest of Dean     The GREAT GREY SHRIKE still on Crabtree Hill this morning at 10:30am last seen heading towards Drybrook Road Station at 10:50am. Also 100 Siskins and eight Reed Buntings. A male Goosander from the Stoneworks at Cannop ponds this morning and five flyover Hawfinches at Parkend and two Crossbills at Kensley Lodge. Sharpness     A BLACK REDSTART at the end of Dock Road at 2:30pm. (Mark Hobson).

Tewkesbury     A GREAT WHITE EGRET beside the River Avon right on the Glos/Worcs border this morning. (Sarah Loaring).

Oxenhall     A Meadow Pipit drinking from the garden pond this morning, a garden tick. (Arron Roberts).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Three Water Rails and a fourth heard at Grundon boardwalk this morning. (Les Waring).

Woodmancote    Four Lesser Redpolls, three Blackcaps (2m, 1f), a Coal Tit, ten Greenfinches and 20 Goldfinches in the garden today. (John Widgery).

Coombe Hill Meadows   Seven Mute Swans, eight Canada Geese, 200 Wigeon, two Gadwalls, 100 Teal, 40 Mallards, 21 Pintails, eight Shovelers, two Grey Herons, 15 Cormorants over, a Sparrowhawk, five Coots, four Great Spotted Woodpeckers all drumming, a Lapwing, 50 Fieldfares, ten Redwings and a Jay. Coombe Hill Meadows     A ringed DUSKY WARBLER along the canal today, the bird was constantly chacking. This is the 2nd record for Glos, the first being at Frampton on 2nd May 2004 found by Martin McGill. (Graham Smith).

Purton     A Water Rail, four Mandarins and a small murmuration of 1000+ Starlings at 4pm at the Timber Ponds. (Vic Polley).

Sharpness     The winter male BLACK REDSTART was right at the end of Dock Road again, an hour before dusk today. (Dan Fletcher).

Saul     Three CATTLE EGRETS and 15 Little Egrets feeding together in paddocks this morning at SO745088. (Roy Widgery).

Ashleworth Ham     9-12 Snipe, up to 200 Lapwings and 150-200 Teal and Wigeon today. (Margaret Collins).

Symonds Yat    From the viewpoint today the Peregrine pair, four Ravens, 11 Buzzards, a female Sparrowhawk, a male Kingfisher, two male Goosanders, three Grey Herons, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Green Woodpecker, two Jays, five Bullfinches, two Mandarins and five Fallow Deer. Berkeley shore     Nine Turnstones roosting with 20 Dunlins. Also eight Snipe, 12 Redshanks and three Stonechats today. (Paul Taylor).

Brimscombe     A Water Rail in the Toadsmoor valley this afternoon. (Martine Fenn).
