Also three Mute Swans, 128 Greylags and 337 Canada Geese, eight Shelducks, 250 Teal, a Gadwall, 75 Mallards, 60 Pintails, 90 Shovelers, five Tufted Ducks, a Buzzard, two Grey Herons, ten Coots, 75 Lapwings, 60 Black-headed Gulls and c75 Fieldfares along the canal. A Snow Goose with Canada Geese on the tack piece, the Ross’s Goose and Bar-headed Goose with Barnacle Geese and 12 Common Cranes on the Dumbles. A Little Grebe catching fish at the Zeiss hide. Ashleworth Ham     This afternoon a Black-tailed Godwit, 98 Wigeon, 61 Teal, four Pintails, 15 Shovelers, 91 Mallards, a Moorhen, two Grey Herons, five Mute Swans, five Chaffinches, five Redwings, three Long-tailed Tits, 150 Starlings, a Raven and two Buzzards. Dudbridge     At lunchtime today a Peregrine very low overhead with a kill, headed towards Rodborough pursued by three Carrion Crows. Hawling     On a circuit S of the village, a Red Kite, two Ravens, two Corn Buntings, two Reed Buntings, six Yellowhammers, a small group of Linnets and numerous Fieldfares and Redwings. Golden Plovers heard in flight in thick fog. (Steve Brown).

Forest of Dean     11 Goosanders at Woorgreens Lake early this morning. At Crabtree Hill a Crossbill over, a pair of Stonechats, small flocks of Siskins, Jays, Ravens and three Wild Boar. Coal Tit and Marsh Tit at Cannop ponds. (Mike Davis). This afternoon a large Wild Boar at Cannop ponds. (Michael King).

Forest of Dean     A BARN OWL seen at Crabtree Hill on Thursday night 24th (Robin Ward) and again this morning. (Robin Husbands). At Cannop ponds two Ravens near the bird table feeding on corn, Wigeon still on the lake and a Nuthatch on the bird table. (Chris Keeling).

Frampton    From Splatt Bridge this morning two Marsh Harriers, two Peregrines, two Common Cranes flew through, four Redshanks, three Stonechats and two Blackcaps. Bourton-on-the-Water     At St Lawrence church yard a Red Kite over mobbed by Crows, several Chaffinches, a female Blackbird eating hawthorn berries, two Collared Doves, two Dunnocks, a Wren and a Long-tailed Tit. Nearby at Westfield Farm two Red Kites soaring low over woodland this afternoon. (Howard Taylor).

Claypits     A BLACK KITE over drifting towards Frampton with Jackdaws chasing it at 10:40am. Not relocated at Frampton. (Nick Goatman). Note this could possibly be a wandering ringed bird with a transmitter that has been seen in Cornwall and Wales.

Frampton     A BITTERN stalking through reeds at the waters edge at the NE end of Court Lake at 9:40am. (Tanya Allen). Still showing in heavy rain at lunchtime. (Nick Goatman).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Floods extensive but wildfowl numbers increasing and included a Tufted Duck, three Pintails, c200 Wigeon, six Gadwalls and 200 Teal. Also two Red Kites and a female Marsh Harrier that hunted the reserve for 2 hours. (Ian Hull).

Forest of Dean     A FIRECREST on the Long Trail at Nagshead. Also lots of Bullfinches and Siskins. Marsh Tits showing well at Highnam Woods. (Tom Berry).

Stroudwater Canal     Eight Kingfishers from Ryeford Bridge to Brimscombe, two males and a female at Ryeford, the rest were female. The pair of Goosanders have relocated just W of Bowbridge Lock, about halfway along form Capel’s Mill. Also two Grey Herons and five Grey Wagtail. Other walkers reported six Kingfishers from Boakes Drive to the Ocean. (Paul Sutton).
