WWT Slimbridge     Almost certainly the same adult pale phase ARCTIC SKUA flew back down the river at 10:05am. A female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER landed on the river at 10:15am but didn’t settle and very quickly went back downriver. (Neil Smart). The first two BEWICK’S SWANS of the winter arrived on the Rushy this morning, the latest first arrival since 1965. (Slimbridge Sightings).

At Cannop ponds a Dipper and a Grey Wagtail in the stream near the car park, a Kingfisher heard, on and around the lakes, 35 Mandarins, two Little Grebes, three Gadwalls, four Wigeon, 16 Lesser Redpolls over, six Nuthatches, five Goldcrests and four Ravens. On the falling tide a Little Stint, 300+ Dunlins, 40 Grey Plovers, a Bar-tailed Godwit, five Little Egrets and a Common Sandpiper. Frampton    From Splatt Bridge this morning at least 165 Fieldfares and 325 Redwings S in the first two hours, most hedge-hopping. 306 Golden Plovers including a flock of 250, two Siskins amongst a trickle of finches and a late Swallow S. Gloucester     A DARTFORD WARBLER at Horsbere Brook Flood Storage Area from 9:47am to 10am at least, mostly on the E side between the bench and water trough. It was very mobile and with a pair of Stonechats for a short while perching atop bullrushes. No sign up to 2:35pm today. (Andy Jayne).

Beachley Point     A BLACK-THROATED DIVER briefly at 12:20pm. It was under the first road crossing and dived three times, travelling long distances underwater. After about 5 minutes it took off and attempted to fly downstream, but the wind was so strong that it veered off, gained height and flew inland into South Glos over Aust Warth where it was lost to view. Also eight Wigeon and six Oystercatchers on Chapel Rock. (John Sanders).

Frampton    On the Sailing Lake an adult KITTIWAKE up the far end of the lake. On Court Lake three Great White Egrets sheltering from the wind. (Nick Goatman).
