Ashleworth Ham     Late afternoon two Mute Swans, 13 Greylags including nine goslings, 55 Mallards, a Grey Heron, a Buzzard, a Curlew, five Redstarts, four Whitethroats and two Blackcaps. (John Fletcher).

Hardwicke     This morning in the Clarke’s Farm area, ten Whitethroats, two Skylarks, four Yellowhammers, three Chiffchaffs, three Blackcaps, a Buzzard and a Little Owl at Hardwicke Farm, the first in the area for several years. (Paul Masters).

Forest of Dean     A briefly singing Willow Warbler heard from the path to Lower Hide. From the hide early afternoon a juvenile and two female Redstarts, a female Pied Flycatcher and a Spotted Flycatcher. This afternoon from the Short Trail a pair of Spotted Flycatchers. A singing Firecrest heard in hollies approaching the Campbell hide. From the hide birds coming down to bathe included a Treecreeper, a Nuthatch, a female Blackbird, a pair of Blue Tits, a juvenile Robin, a juvenile Mistle Thrush and a Wren. (Andy & Sue Gibbons).

Barnsley    In the SSSI valley W of Barnsley this afternoon eight Redstarts including five males, a QUAIL heard, a Hobby, a Marsh Tit, three Ravens, three Willow Warblers and a male Stonechat. (Richard Williams).

Cotswolds    In the Syreford to Hawling area a Red Kite, a Barn Owl, two Kestrels, four Ravens, a Garden Warbler, c20 Whitethroats, three Treecreepers, a Spotted Flycatcher, a male Redstart, two Stonechats, two Yellow Wagtails, four Tree Pipits, two Corn Buntings, c20 Yellowhammers and two Reed Buntings. In the Huntsman’s Quarry area near Naunton six Lapwings including two chicks, a Red Kite, a Kestrel, 34 Stock Doves, a Lesser Whitethroat, two Corn Buntings, a male Reed Bunting and two Fox cubs. Coombe Hill Meadows     This evening a drake Shoveler, a Cuckoo, a pair of Avocet with three chicks, eight Lapwings and a brood of four chicks, a pair of Little Ringed Plovers with two small chicks, six Curlews came into roost, a pair of Redshank with three medium sized chicks, two Great White Egrets, two Little Egrets and a Garden Warbler singing along track. Ashleworth Ham     Constant Effort Site ringing caught 45 birds including Redstarts (three juveniles), an adult Reed Warbler, two adult Sedge Warblers, at least seven Blackcaps (several juveniles), at least ten Whitethroats (mainly juveniles), an adult Lesser Whitethroat, a juvenile Chiffchaff, a Treecreeper and two adult Linnets. Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning four adult Mute Swans and seven cygnets, a pair of Canada Geese with five goslings, two Shelducks, 40 Mallards, a male Shoveler, a Little Egret, Coots with chicks on the canal, two Avocets with at least two chicks, two Little Ringed Plovers with two chicks, two Oystercatchers with a chick, c8 Lapwings with at least two broods on the reserve, at least four Curlews, 2+ Redshanks, a Cuckoo, a male Yellow Wagtail, also singing Redstarts, Reed and Sedge Warblers, Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs. Huntley     At 9am a Red Kite at low level for 10 minutes before climbing and drifting off S also two Buzzards and a Raven. (Derek Summers).

Maisemore     Along Church Road, from Court Lake to the weir this afternoon six Swallows, two adults feeding four fledglings, five Mute Swans (2 ads, 3 cygnets), four Tufted Ducks, five Mallards, 18 Coots (2 ads with 9 chicks and 2 ads with 5 chicks, five Moorhens (2 ads, three chicks), a Cormorant, 91 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, five Goldfinches, six Blackcaps, two Chaffinches, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and four Chiffchaffs heard. Twyning     At Upham Meadow four Mute Swans, 14 adult Canada Geese, two pairs each with a family of five goslings, six Curlews, ten House Martins, 6+ Skylarks, two Reed Warblers, two Reed Buntings and a Corn Bunting perched on the docks. (Mike Smart).

Leigh Meadows     During hay cutting  80 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 20 Herring Gulls following the tractor and a Reed Bunting singing. (Mike Smart).

Also 30+ Small Tortoiseshells, a Green-veined White, 6+ Painted Ladies, four Emperor dragonflies and a few Azure Damselflies. (MK).

WWT Slimbridge     The Barn Owl again from Kingfisher hide this morning going for hunts from the nest box. A male Kingfisher visiting the bank and  Sedge Warblers and Reed Warblers. (Mike Davis).

WWT Slimbridge     An OSPREY flew over South Lake at 12:25pm heading N. (Ian Hull). Also today from Middle Point three Grey Plovers, three Whimbrels and three immature SPOONBILLS. (Paul Masters).

Broadoak     An OSPREY. presumed the same, reported taking a fish at 5pm and then settling on the sands to eat it, harassed by gulls and corvids. (per Andy Jayne).

Frampton     On Court Lake a late Common Sandpiper, a Common Tern, six Great Crested Grebes and the Black Swan. A Kingfisher, a Cuckoo and a Whitethroat taking food into a nest at Splatt Bridge. (Paul Sutton).

Additionally this evening two Mute Swans with seven cygnets, 22 Canada Geese in to roost, three Shelducks, 50 Mallards, two male Shovelers, three Tufted Ducks, a Great White Egret (with red ring on left leg reading AAR up in white letters), two Grey Herons, c6 Lapwings with at least three chicks, a pair of Oystercatchers with one chick, a summer plumage Dunlin, 11 Curlews came in to roost, three with colour rings and 4+ Redshanks. Tewkesbury     On Severn Ham two Mute Swans by Abbey Mill with two cygnets, 40 Mallard (Mill Avon), a Peregrine hunting, later perching on the Abbey tower, a Curlew, ten House Martins collecting mud for nests, 10+ singing Skylarks, a female Yellow Wagtail, a Reed Warbler, a Sedge Warbler, three Blackcaps, at least ten Starlings in a flock including fledged young and at least six male Reed Buntings. WWT Slimbridge     From Middle Point waders included a breeding plumage Curlew Sandpiper, 48 Sanderlings, 97 Ringed Plovers, three Whimbrels, 64 Dunlins, three Grey Plovers and three immature SPOONBILLS. A Barn Owl hunting the Top New Piece and the Dumbles this morning. At least two Cattle Egrets on the Top New Piece and a Great White Egret to the N. Epney    A Red Kite at 11:10am heading towards Longney from Epney following the road. (MK).

Ryeford     Along the River Frome two Kingfishers, two Mute Swans with six cygnets, five Chiffchaffs, including an adult feeding four juveniles and a Goldcrest. (Steve Pullen).

Edge     At Rudge Hill nature reserve 10+ Linnets, five Willow Warblers, four Meadow Pipits, a Tree Pipit, two Whitethroats, two Green Woodpeckers and a Great Spotted Woodpecker and many families of recently fledged Blue, Great and Long-tailed Tits. (Steve Pullen).
