Edge     At Rudge Hill NNR this afternoon a Tree Pipit, a Meadow Pipit, three Willow Warblers, a Chiffchaff, a Blackcap and two Whitethroats. Good numbers of Duke of Burgundy’s, Small Blues, Dingy Skippers, Small Coppers, Small Heaths and Common Blues amongst commoner species. (MK).

Toadsmoor     Along the Toadsmoor valley adjacent to the two lakes birds included four Chiffchaffs, a Grey Wagtail, a Spotted Flycatcher, two Treecreepers, six Jays, a Marsh Tit, two Coal Tits and a probable Wood Warbler singing high in the canopy but not seen at SO882043 near the Keepers Cottage. Two male Tufted Ducks on the upper lake, a Weasel ran across the footpath and four Speckled Wood butterflies. A Peregrine in a stoop over Toadsmoor valley at 6:20pm taking a Woodpigeon. Quedgeley     At Shelduck Road today three Oystercatchers flew noisily overhead heading SW at 1:20pm, a male Great Spotted Woodpecker on the garden feeder. Many of the local Starling nests fledged at first light this morning. 20 House Martins from the local colony and four Swifts. Also nocturnal visitors to garden included three Hedgehogs and two Foxes. Saul Warth     At high tide an OSPREY flew upriver at 8:12am and disappeared behind Hock Cliff chased by ten Shelducks, seen first at WWT by Martin McGill. Also three Bar-tailed Godwits, distant small waders estimated 150+ Dunlins, 100+ Ringed Plovers, seven Curlews, a Common Sandpiper, 55+ Shelducks, four Oystercatchers and just 2 Swallows. Other birds seen in the evening on a GNS field meeting included two Mute Swans, 40 Greylags, 15 Canada Geese and a pair with five goslings, six Gadwall, ten Mallards, a male Tufted Duck, a Great White Egret, a Grey Heron, two Coots, three Curlews, a Cuckoo, a Yellow Wagtail, five Pied Wagtails, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Lesser Whitethroat, 2+ Whitethroats, two Blackcaps, two Chiffchaffs and two Reed Buntings. Frampton     At least six Hobbies around Court Lake an ARCTIC TERN (NG) and seven Common Terns on the Sailing Lake. Also two Mistle Thrushes, two Reed Buntings, 30 Swifts over the Sailing Lake, a Lesser Whitethroat, two Whitethroats, four Cetti’s Warblers, an Oystercatcher chasing off a Carrion Crow from the island at Court Lake, three Stock Doves, both the Ross’s Goose and the Black Swan still. Saul Warth     At high tide three Bar-tailed Godwits, two Whimbrels, nine Curlews and two Oystercatchers. Also a pair of Grey Wagtails feeding at least two fledged young at Hock Ditch. (MK).

Epney     Two Oystercatchers, four Curlews, eight Sand Martins, two Swallows and a pair of Stock Doves late afternoon. (MK).

Tewkesbury     At Upper Lode ‘dead end’ a Cuckoo showing very well, a Garden Warbler,
Blackcaps, Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Redstart, Mandarin, Great Black-backed Gull, Common Tern on the weir and Banded Demoiselles in good numbers. (Les Ditchburn).

May Hill     Near the top of Newent woods were two Garden Warblers singing against each other. On top of the Hill c12 Crossbills, many Meadow Pipits and Linnets singing, a Redstart singing, at least one Willow Warbler and two Stonechats. (Rob & Gillian Guest).

Newent     c12 Swifts, two days later than last year, at 11 am this morning. (Alan Hooper).

Mitcheldean     Five Swifts circling high over Mitcheldean and three House Martins locally. (Chris Keeling).

Minsterworth Ham     This morning five Canada Geese, two Shelducks, five Mallards, two Buzzards, a Peregrine and three Curlews. (Mike Smart).

Nailsworth     A pair of Mandarins in the garden at 6:20am. Also three Treecreepers together, a Goldcrest, two Siskins and two Grass Snakes. (Terry Grant).
