Frampton    This morning the Grasshopper Warbler showed very well on the bramble hedge at the N end of the N reedbed. Also a Great White Egret flew NE at 8am, a Swallow perched by the church and 12 Swallows, 23 Sand Martins and four House Martins flew N, a Whimbrel called unseen from the river and a pair of Greylags with nine goslings on the canal. At Crabtree Hill a male Redstart, a female Goshawk, male and female Crossbill, four Tree Pipits, a Green Woodpecker, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Ravens, a Garden Warbler, three Swallows, a Siskin and many Willow Warblers and Linnets. Coombe Hill Meadows     This evening a Whimbrel, a Green Sandpiper, six Yellow Wagtails, three Curlews and five Snipe. (Jeremy Squire). 20+ Buzzards over the meadows this afternoon, 15 in one thermal. (Andy Pierce).

Longney     Around the old Orchards and along the Severn Way birds included two Sedge Warblers, four Chiffchaffs, six Blackcaps, three Song Thrushes and a Buzzard. (John Fletcher).

Highnam Woods     Early morning at least three Nightingales singing. Also a Goldcrest, a Blackcap, a House Martin, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Chiffchaff and a pair of Canada Geese. Ruscombe    At 5:15pm a WHITE STORK drifted up the Ruscombe Valley flying quite high towards Painswick, thought to have drifted in from the Severn. (Chris Tracey). Presumably a second bird as the bird over Gloucester yesterday and Cheltenham Racecourse this morning was in Worcester at lunchtime.

WWT Slimbridge     Two GLOSSY IBISES feeding together on the Top New Piece this morning. Long believed to be two birds and finally confirmed today. (Martin McGill). Frampton     From Splatt Bridge this morning a Grasshopper Warbler reeling, three Whitethroats, 2+ Reed Warblers, a Cetti’s Warbler, two Wheatears, an ARCTIC TERN over the river, a first winter Mediterranean Gull, a Bar-tailed Godwit with five Curlews, two House Martins, 30+ Sand Martins and four Jays high N. Ashleworth & Hasfield Hams     At Meerend Thicket a Great White Egret showing well from the screen; also two Shelducks, a drake Wigeon and two Grey Herons. Between Meerend Thicket and Stank Lane a male Sparrowhawk hunting the roadside hedges. Along Stank Lane at least two male Redstarts, c3 each of Whitethroat and Willow Warbler, several Chiffchaffs and a male Great Spotted Woodpecker. Also Curlews heard and four seen in flight. Forest of Dean     From Lower hide at Nagshead this morning male and female Pied Flycatcher and a Redstart. (Bettie Sloane). A pair of Hawfinches at Popes Hill visiting feeders daily still. (Harvey Sherwood).

Prescott     At Nottingham Hill E this morning a male Wheatear, two Ravens and three Buzzards. At Nottingham Hill W early afternoon a Lesser Whitethroat, a male Redstart and a male Cuckoo. (Ken Heron).

Cleeve Hill    11 RING OUZELS, six Wheatears, two Red Kites, two Buzzards, three Linnets, seven Yellowhammers, a Song Thrush, six Meadow Pipits, 11 Skylarks, two Willow Warblers, a male Stonechat, a pair of Ravens, two Buzzards and a Cuckoo calling from behind the masts area. May Hill     This morning 25 Crossbills over N with a group of 10+ feeding in pines on the summit. A small group of very noisy Lesser Redpolls in beech trees on the W side, also a Willow Warbler, a Blackcap, many Linnets and Meadow Pipits, a pair of Stonechats and a Buzzard. (Sam Walker).
