A Grasshopper Warbler still reeling and showing occasionally at Mid Point. Coombe Hill Meadows    This afternoon two singing QUAILS, three Whinchats (2 males), three juvenile Yellow Wagtails, a Hobby, five Green Sandpipers, 16 Lapwings, a Great White Egret, three Teal and a Great Black-backed Gull. (Si Border/Ian Hull).

Cherington     Around the lake early afternoon birds included two Spotted Flycatchers, two Kingfishers, five Grey Wagtails (2 adults, 3 fledged young), a male Bullfinch, a Raven, a Song Thrush, a male Chaffinch, two Chiffchaffs, a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, a Nuthatch, two Moorhens. five Mallards and two Mute Swans. Guscar Rocks     This evening 334 Curlews came in to roost, including three head-started birds from Slimbridge in 2019, and another 24 from the earlier 2010 to 2013 ringing sessions just downriver at Wibdon. Also 23 Canada Geese, three Mallards, a Grey Heron, a Cormorant, three adult Oystercatchers, 150 roosting Black-headed Gulls including three juveniles, a Yellow Wagtail and two recently fledged Linnets. Tewkesbury    At Severn Ham a Mute Swan with five cygnets, 30 Mallards on the Mill Avon, a Cormorant, a Cuckoo singing still, 5+ Swifts, 5+ Skylarks, 1 or 2 Sedge Warblers singing and up to ten Reed Buntings singing. 30+ House Martins over the town and two Peregrines on and around the Abbey, including a juvenile. Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning a QUAIL heard in the South meadows 100mtrs from the carpark to first footbridge. From Grundon hide four Little Egrets, a Great White Egret, a Redshank, two Green Sandpipers, a Black-tailed Godwit, two immature Yellow Wagtails and a juvenile Stonechat. (Les Ditchburn/Mike Smart). Also two parent Moorhens with six small chicks and four juveniles certainly from an earlier brood. At times each of the four juveniles were feeding the smaller chicks. (Eden Tanner).
