Saul Warth    A Great White Egret, a Little Egret, 80+ Avocets, 70+ Curlews, five Oystercatchers, a Mandarin on Saul Lodge pond and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. (Eric Harris).

Nailsworth     A distant, but almost certain female Honey Buzzard circled high over Nailsworth Valley and then over Hazel Wood before flying W at midday. (Terry Grant).

Tewkesbury    An adult ROSE-COLOURED STARLING yesterday in Prior’s Park photographed at 5pm and returned twice to feed. (per Tim Cash).

Forest of Dean     At Cannop Upper Pond this morning c60 Mallards, three juvenile Mandarins, four Tufted Ducks, an adult Coot with two juveniles, two Little Grebes, two House Martins, an adult Grey Wagtail and two juveniles and a juvenile Robin. Across the road up the forest track a Chiffchaff singing and c20 Ringlet butterflies. Coombe Hill Meadows    At least three male Whinchats feeding from the tops of the Docks and a juvenile Redstart in bushes at the end of the boardwalk. A QUAIL calling still. Also today six Mute Swans, 30+ Mallards, a Great White Egret, three Little Egrets, a Grey Heron, a Coot with a youngster by the Wharf, 30 Lapwings, three Green Sandpipers, two Redshanks, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, a few Whitethroats, Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs still singing and some Reed Buntings, including a female carrying food. WWT Slimbridge    An OSPREY resting on a floating log and drifting downstream off New Grounds/Awre this morning. (Martin McGill). Two Grasshopper Warblers reeling at Mid Point. On the Rushy a first summer Mediterranean Gull. From Robbie Garnett the summer plumage Spotted Redshank, later on South Lake.  From Zeiss Hide a Great White Egret and four Little Ringed Plovers (2 ads, 2 juvs) on the scrape below the Estuary tower. Calcot     A pair of Stonechats, at least two pairs of Whitethroats carrying food, and 40+ Stock Doves feeding in a field. Large numbers of Marbled Whites some of them mating, and Meadow Brown butterflies. (Terry Grant).

Nailsworth     Two male Siskins trapped today in the garden at Windsoredge. (Roy Bircher).

WWT Slimbridge     A breeding plumaged Spotted Redshank on the Top New Piece. Also an adult Wood Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper and 90 Black-tailed Godwits flew off from there. A Grasshopper Warbler still reeling and showing occasionally at Mid Point. On the Rushy four Green Sandpipers, an adult and two juvenile Little Ringed Plovers and a Black-tailed Godwit. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Coombe Hill Meadows    This afternoon two singing QUAILS, three Whinchats (2 males), three juvenile Yellow Wagtails, a Hobby, five Green Sandpipers, 16 Lapwings, a Great White Egret, three Teal and a Great Black-backed Gull. (Si Border/Ian Hull).

Cherington     Around the lake early afternoon birds included two Spotted Flycatchers, two Kingfishers, five Grey Wagtails (2 adults, 3 fledged young), a male Bullfinch, a Raven, a Song Thrush, a male Chaffinch, two Chiffchaffs, a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, a Nuthatch, two Moorhens. five Mallards and two Mute Swans. Guscar Rocks     This evening 334 Curlews came in to roost, including three head-started birds from Slimbridge in 2019, and another 24 from the earlier 2010 to 2013 ringing sessions just downriver at Wibdon. Also 23 Canada Geese, three Mallards, a Grey Heron, a Cormorant, three adult Oystercatchers, 150 roosting Black-headed Gulls including three juveniles, a Yellow Wagtail and two recently fledged Linnets. Cotswold Water Park East     At Pit 132 three Teal, four Red Crested Pochards, two Oystercatchers, 70 Lapwings, a juvenile Little Ringed Plover, two Common Sandpipers, eight Green Sandpipers, a Greenshank, a Great White Egret, nine Little Egrets, a Red Kite, a Barn Owl, seven Swifts, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Garden Warbler and a Yellow Wagtail. In the afternoon the Great White Egrets, nine Little Egrets, a Grey Heron, five Green Sandpipers, two Black-tailed Godwits, 29 Lapwings, two Oystercatchers, four Skylarks, a Reed Bunting, Reed and Sedge Warblers singing and a Kingfisher along the canal. Tewkesbury    At Severn Ham a Mute Swan with five cygnets, 30 Mallards on the Mill Avon, a Cormorant, a Cuckoo singing still, 5+ Swifts, 5+ Skylarks, 1 or 2 Sedge Warblers singing and up to ten Reed Buntings singing. 30+ House Martins over the town and two Peregrines on and around the Abbey, including a juvenile.
