Cotswold Water Park East At Pit 132 this morning a Wood Sandpiper, 12 Green Sandpipers, four Common Sandpipers, a Ruff, a Snipe, three Little Ringed Plovers, 244 Lapwings, two Oystercatchers, eight Teal and a Little Owl. (Nigel Pleass).
Coombe Hill Meadows A QUAIL still this morning calling in the reserve field by the first gate, despite hay cutting in progress. Also eight Red Kites and six Buzzards feeding on voles. (Ian Ralphs).
Cheltenham At Naunton Park, c8 Swifts and a Raven. Garden insects include a
female Broad-bodied Chaser (tick), two Gatekeepers, a Meadow Brown and a
Box Tree Moth. A Silver Y Moth nearby. (Steve Brown).
Brimscombe On the Stroudwater Canal seven adult Mandarins and three ducklings. Also a DAUBENTON’S BAT flying over the canal in sunshine at 11am, six Emperor dragonflies, five Brown Hawkers, a Large Red Damselfly and numerous blue damselflies. (Roger Wasley).

Cotswold Water Park East At Pit 127 three non-flying young Common Terns visible, two seen being fed, at least 12 adults around some landing out of sight, so probably more young. Also a Great Crested Grebe with a well-grown juvenile and a pair with four small young and still a few young Black-headed Gulls, but the colony mostly deserted now. (John Durell).

Coombe Hill Meadows Two QUAIL calling regularly N of the canal, one heard from the car park at 11am, the second from the footbridge over the canal. Along the canal a Moorhen family and a Coot family; also a Chiffchaff, two Sedge Warblers, two Blackcaps, a Whitethroat and a Reed Bunting, all singing. From the Grundon hide at midday six adult Mute Swans, a Great White Egret, c50 Lapwings, four Green Sandpipers, a Great Black-backed Gull and a Lesser Black-backed Gull, two Grey Herons, an adult male Yellow Wagtail and a juvenile and 3-4 Whinchats (1+ m). Brookthorpe This afternoon birds included three Blackcaps, 12 Long-tailed Tits, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Green Woodpeckers, eight Blue Tits (2 adults & 6 fledglings), three Goldfinches, two Song Thrushes, two Jays and two Buzzards. From Zeiss Hide a Great White Egret and four Little Ringed Plovers (2 ads, 2 juvs) on the scrape below the Estuary tower.
