A Great White Egret feeding in the fields on the river side of the Lydney Estate Milking Unit then  flew off in the direction of Aylburton before landing the other side of the railway line. Walmore Common    A Bar-headed Goose still today, first seen on Saturday. Also eight Greylags and 110 Canada Geese, 130 Wigeon, a Jack Snipe, 14 Snipe, a Coal Tit , unusual here, two male Blackcaps and a male Stonechat. (Andy Jayne).

Awre     A huge count of 310+ Snipe this afternoon. Also a Sparrowhawk, a Water Rail, a Green Sandpiper, two Ravens, a Cetti’s Warbler, three Stonechats, 200+ Chaffinches and three Reed Buntings. (Andy Jayne).

Guscar/Aylburton     On the WeBS count birds included four Shelducks, 95 Wigeon, 260 Teal, 20 Mallards, three Grey Herons, 147 Lapwings, 20 Dunlins, nine Snipe, two Jack Snipe, 306 Curlews, 23 Redshanks, a Turnstone, 49 Common Gulls, a Raven, a Stonechat, and a mixed flock of at least 300 Jackdaws and Carrion Crows. Lechlade    Male and female Blackcap on garden bird feeders. Also daily visits by a pair of Nuthatch, late afternoons 45-50 Goldfinches in nearby trees and a Raven calling daily over the last week. (Alan Williams).

Frampton     At 10:50am 11 TUNDRA BEAN GEESE flew S downriver high up and descended into the Trust. Later they were seen on the Goose House Ground this afternoon at WWT. Five Pink-footed Geese this morning from Splatt Bridge again until 11am at least. Also this morning a female MERLIN, three redhead Goosanders, a Greenshank, seven Redshanks, 45 Shelducks, two female Teal, two Little Egrets, 25 Meadow Pipits and a male Stonechat. Gloucester     A YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER YBW heard only for the second day in ivy in front of the gasworks in Bristol Road by Dainton Self Storage. (Mark Hobson). The male BLACK REDSTART showing well again on Gloucester Cathedral, usually on the  South Transept. (Andy Jayne). At Alney Island this afternoon a Peregrine, a Sparrowhawk, two Water Rails calling from the reedbed, 300 Jackdaws going over to roost and 20+ Reed-Buntings roosting in the reedbed. The Starling roost is at least 6000 birds, gathering on the electric wires, then going to roost in the reedbed. The Starlings put on a great spectacle from 3:45pm onwards with big aerial movements over Alney Island before funnelling down suddenly to roost in the reedbed. WWT Slimbridge     Three CATTLE EGRETS left the roost in the Decoy this morning at 8:49am and flew towards Shepherd’s Patch. (Slimbridge Sightings). On the Bottom New Piece viewed from Kingfisher Hide c400 Lapwings, 600+ Golden Plovers, c200 Dunlins, four Ruff, Curlews and Black-tailed Godwits and the Marsh Harrier there too. (Kate Fox).

Coombe Hill Meadows    c300 Greylags, 12 Canada Geese, 560 Wigeon, c150 Teal, at least Shovelers, five Pintails, five Gadwalls, 20+ Mallards, 60 Lapwings and two pairs of Stonechats this morning. (Mike Smart).

Stanley Downton     c70 Chaffinches, c40 House Sparrows and 15+ Pied Wagtails, a Cormorant on a pylon and a Buzzard nearby. A Little Grebe on the canal between the Ocean and Bond’s Mill. (Paul Sutton).

Ashleworth Ham     This afternoon birds included 37 Snipe, 150+ Lapwings, 11 Canada Geese, two Greylags, two Mute Swans, 77 Wigeon, 45 Mallards, 131+ Teal, 46 Shovelers, a Little Grebe, five Moorhens, four Coots, four Grey Herons, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, three Buzzards and a Tawny Owl hooted briefly at 2:15pm. Around the pools a Marsh Tit, 98 Tufted Ducks, 509 Coots, 109 Mute Swans, 121 Gadwalls, 43 Wigeon, 15 Shovelers, a drake Pintail, 20 Mallards, 41 Teal, four Pochards, three Little Grebes, 22 Moorhens, a Water Rail, the adult Yellow-legged Gull, four Blackcaps and two Cetti’s Warblers.
