Coombe Hill Meadows     At 10am, three Whinchats in rough vegetation W  of north scrape. On north scrape a Common Sandpiper on a small island and two Great White Egrets. (Les Ditchburn).

Lydney     At the New Grounds 400+ Canada Geese, a Peregrine through, three Little Egrets, a Cormorant, 20 Great Black-backed Gulls and 25 Lesser Black-backed Gulls today. (Paul Sutton).

Ashleworth Ham     A CES ringing session caught 25 birds including a Redstart, a Sedge Warbler, a Reed Warbler, a Whitethroat, a Willow Warbler, three Chiffchaffs and seven Long-tailed Tits. Purton     A COMMON SCOTER just S of Tite’s Point at 5:30pm about to head up on the tide. (Andy Jordan).

Berkeley shore     Birds today included a drake COMMON SCOTER flew upriver at 9:35am, four Common Sandpipers, 83 Redshanks at the Pill, 160 Mallards, 124 Canada Geese, 24 Common Gulls, nine Cormorants, a Little Egret, a Ringed Plover, male and female Sparrowhawk and a female Kestrel. Coombe Hill Meadows     Late morning viewing from the canalside footpath beyond (W of) the closed Grundon hide, a Stock Dove, two Grey Herons, three Great White Egrets, a Little Egret, a distant Buzzard, a Kestrel and five Whinchats, at least two juveniles. (Andy & Sue Gibbons).

WWT Slimbridge     On the Top New Piece this morning a juvenile WOOD SANDPIPER, a Garganey, a juvenile Little Ringed Plover and three juvenile Greenshanks. (Martin McGill).

Elmore Court    This lunchtime in the rewilding area viewed from the public footpath along Broadmeadow Bank birds included 2+ Greenshanks on the scrape with two Green Sandpipers, three Lapwings, the Great White Egret still, three Little Egrets and two Grey Herons. Also two Green Woodpeckers and four Yellow Wagtails flushed by a hunting Kestrel. (Steve Pullen).

Gloucester     Around Alney Island and Over 4+ Southern Migrant Hawkers, a Buzzard, a Green Woodpecker, a Kingfisher, three House Martins and a pair of Mute Swans with six juveniles. (Paul Clark).

Cleeve Hill     Near Wontley Farm towards Warden’s Wood a Whinchat, a Stonechat, four Yellowhammers, two Whitethroats, a small mixed flock of Goldfinches and Linnets and two Ravens. At Warden’s Wood two Bullfinches and a Yellowhammer. A Corn Bunting at the fence between West Down and the main common. (Steve Brown).

Guscar Rocks/Aylburton Warth     This morning birds included two Snow Geese, 45 Canada Geese, two Shelducks, 25 Mallards, six Grey Herons, two Oystercatchers, 74 Ringed Plovers, 14 Dunlins, 492 Curlews, a Redshank, a Turnstone, a Buzzard, six Skylarks, 20 Swallows, 12 Yellow Wagtails, two Reed Warblers, two Willow Warblers, two Chiffchaffs, 90 Carrion Crows, 40 Linnets and a Reed Bunting. Chavenage Lane area     Early afternoon a CORNCRAKE called briefly as the fields were being mowed. It didn’t call again after 2:15pm. Also 8+ Red Kites, at least 18 Buzzards, four Kestrels and a Hobby. Also, a small movement of Phylloscopus warblers and 30+ Swallows feeding over the fields. (Terry Grant).

Tresham     A large flock of 60 Corn Buntings flushed by a hunting Sparrowhawk, three Yellow Wagtails, a Whinchat, a Stonechat, a Stock Dove, a Red Kite and a Little Owl this morning. (Paul Rich).

Saul Warth     This morning 35 Curlews, 1+ Greenshank, a Ringed Plover, two Little Egrets, two Kestrels, a Grey Wagtail, six Chiffchaffs, three Lesser Whitethroats, a Blackcap, a Whitethroat, seven Swallows, 50 Goldfinches and a Raven. (MK).

Frampton     This morning from Splatt Bridge an adult Hobby, a very dark juvenile Marsh Harrier, three Kestrels, two Green Sandpipers, two Yellow Wagtails over, a juvenile Bullfinch and a pair of Great Crested Grebes with three well grown young on the canal. (Gordon Hodgson).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Birds today included 306 Mallards, 55 Teal, six Gadwalls, six Shovelers, five Mute Swans, 25 Canada Geese, 23 Lapwings, two Common Sandpipers, two Snipe, three Grey Heron, three Great White Egrets, two Little Egret, two Kingfishers, a Sparrowhawk, two Whinchats, at least four Sedge Warblers and a Reed Bunting. Halmore     This morning a juvenile male Kingfisher fishing for sticklebacks, first record for several years, a juvenile Bullfinch, juvenile Spotted Flycatchers, several Blackcaps and a Treecreeper. (Chris Newton).

Tidenham Chase An influx of 40+ Willow Warblers today. Also four Buzzards, a Green Woodpecker, five Stonechats and a Tree Pipit. (Andy Jayne).

Forest of Dean    A juvenile Marsh Harrier at Stowe Green Quarry today. Also three Teal, two Red Kites, two Buzzards, a Hobby, a pair of Little Grebes with five chicks, a Spotted Flycatcher, a Whinchat, seven Stonechats and a Tree Pipit. (Andy Jayne).

Stinchcombe Hill     This morning a male Redstart, a Yellow Wagtail, a Swift amongst the House Martins, and a few Willow Warblers amongst the noisy Chiffchaffs, one singing and c100 Goldfinches. (James Robinson).

WWT Slimbridge     From Middle Point 12 Little Egrets, a Great White Egret, a Peregrine, 130 distant small waders including Ringed Plovers, Dunlins, Sanderlings and a Little Stint, a breeding plumage Grey Plover, two Greenshanks and a female Wheatear. Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning nine species of dragonflies and damselflies but no sign of Willow Emeralds. Southern and Migrant Hawkers the most abundant. Also a Kingfisher, a Raven, 2+ Chiffchaffs, a Whitethroat, a Blackcap, 30+ Goldfinches and a Bullfinch calling. (Paul Masters/MK). Bourton-on-the-Water     Around the Fieldbarn camp site area birds included 27 Goldfinches, seven Yellowhammer, a Green Woodpecker, a Grey Heron, two Red Kites,
two Buzzards and a Kestrel. Around the lakes birds included 31 Canada Geese, six Great Crested Grebes, three Cormorants, two Mute Swans, a Grey Heron, three Long-tailed Tits. two Grey Wagtails, a Little Egret, two Blackcaps, five Mallards and a Buzzard. (John Fletcher).

Leigh Meadows     Two Grey Herons, a Green Sandpiper, a Swallow, a Sedge Warbler, two Chiffchaffs and five Linnets today. (Mike Smart).

Cobney Meadows     Seven Mute Swans, a Teal, 20 Mallards, a Grey Heron, two Buzzards, two Whinchats sitting on fence posts along the Old Parish Drain, a Sedge Warbler, two Chiffchaffs and two Jays. (Mike Smart).

Elmore Court     In the rewilding area between 6am-7am from Broadmeadow Bank, 2+ Whinchats with 2+ Stonechats, a Greenshank, 4+ Green Sandpipers, 6+ Teal, two Little Grebes, a Great White Egret, a Little Egret, four Grey Herons, two Red Kites, three Kestrels and six Mistle Thrushes. Frampton     This evening two Crossbills flew over the sailing lake, 10+ Yellow Wagtails in the weed field S of the lake, four Swifts, 200+ Sand Martins, four Spotted Flycatchers, an adult Yellow-legged Gull, 11 Little Egrets and two Kingfishers. (Nick Goatman).

Saul Warth     Early morning, a Red Kite mobbed by four Ravens, four Buzzards, three Kestrels, 77+ Curlews, seven Shelducks, 18 Swallows flew S, nine Cormorants flew E, a Willow Warbler and two Chiffchaffs. 22 Linnets and four Pied Wagtails on stubble opposite Saul Lodge. (MK).

Frampton     At the sailing lake this afternoon the adult Yellow-legged Gull, 15+ Yellow Wagtails, all females and juveniles, in the 1st stubble field on the left after the lake but hard to see on the ground. Good numbers of warblers in the elders at the end of the path S of the lake including 6+ Chiffchaffs, 2+ Blackcaps, a Willow Warbler and a Goldcrest. (MK).

Elmore Court     A SHORT-EARED OWL near the Severn at Elmore Court rewilding today. From Broadmeadow Bank birds included two Little Grebes, a Great White Egret, a Little Egret, two Red Kites, a Hobby, a Lesser Whitethroat, eight Mistle Thrushes, a pair of Stonechats and 120 Goldfinches. Saul Warth     A moulting adult Mediterranean Gull over the Warth this evening. (Gordon Hodgson).

Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning three Kingfishers, a Sedge Warbler, a Chiffchaff and a Redstart . On the scrapes a Great White Egret, six Little Egrets, three Grey Herons. a juvenile Dunlin, a Common Sandpiper and a Snipe. Shoveler and Teal numbers creeping up. (Ian Hull). Additionally in the evening ten Mute Swans, two Canada Geese, 15 Teal, 50 Mallards, an adult Coot with three fully grown young, three Lapwings, two Little Ringed Plovers, a Green Sandpiper, three Chiffchaffs calling and a huge Jackdaw roost of many hundred birds over Long Pool. Epney     Below the Anchor Inn this afternoon a Common Sandpiper, three Lapwings, a Common Gull amongst the growing gull roost and 48 Mallards. (MK).

Frampton    From Splatt Bridge early morning two Kingfishers and three Grey Herons. At the Sailing Lake, two Yellow Wagtails and 4+ Willow Warblers. Also 150+ Woodpigeons, 20+ Stock Doves, 100+ Rooks and 25+ Greylags feeding in the recently harvested wheat fields. (Steve Pullen). Later around the pools the first Wigeon, two Green Sandpipers, a Whimbrel, two Teal, four Gadwalls, 85 Coots, 35 Moorhens, ten Willow Warblers, 15 Blackcaps, 37 Chiffchaffs, two Whitethroats, a Lesser Whitethroat, a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker, 12 Sand Martins, 20+House Martins and 10+ Swallows. WWT Slimbridge    From Zeiss hide a SPOONBILL, four Ringed Plovers, 65 Lapwings, the Ross’s Goose, a Marsh Harrier, two Ravens and a Kingfisher. Also two Greenshanks on the Tack Piece. (Oliver Paisey).

Saul Warth     This morning 31 Curlews, a Whimbrel, 20 Avocets, nine Shelducks, a Little Egret, four Kestrels, a Buzzard, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Raven, two Blackcaps, two Willow Warblers, three Chiffchaffs, 18 Swallows and 60+ on wires in Saul village. The juvenile Great Crested Grebe still on the canal. (MK).

Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning a Marsh Harrier on a kill, then mobbed by a Carrion Crow, then chased by a Lapwing. Other birds included three Chiffchaffs, 23 Goldfinches, seven Greenfinches, two Sedge Warblers, two Kingfishers, four Stock Doves, Mallards with 8 and 6 young, 12 Teal, six Grey Herons, ten Little Egrets, four Lapwings, a Common Sandpiper, a Snipe, eight Mute Swans and a Kestrel. WWT Slimbridge    Two large flocks of at least 140 terns, briefly feeding and resting on the channel off of Middle Point this morning, mostly Arctic Terns but including 19 BLACK TERNS including adults and juveniles, then they climbed high and flew off SW. A SPOONBILL and six Greenshanks on the Top New Piece and a Garganey on the Rushy. (Martin McGill).

Frampton pools     A female/juvenile MONTAGU’S HARRIER over the old tip briefly this morning before flying off towards the A38 and no further sign today. Two Spotted Flycatchers, a Redstart, 50 Chiffchaffs, 27 Blackcaps, nine Willow Warblers, eight Reed Warblers, five Cetti’s Warblers, a Yellow Wagtail, two Grey Wagtails, a Common Tern, an adult Yellow-legged Gull, a Swift, ten Sand Martins, eight Bullfinches, four Teal and three Kingfishers. From Splatt Bridge 6am-7am a Mediterranean Gull over the flashes heading towards the river, three Willow Warblers near the church and two Treecreepers, two Kingfishers around the bridge, a Marsh Harrier and a pale Buzzard. Purton     Between 10-1pm five Arctic Terns flew downriver, two juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, a juvenile Mediterranean Gull, 126 Ringed Plovers, 41 Dunlins and three Yellow Wagtails flew SW. (Francis Steuck). Also today 12+ Lapwings, Curlew, 150-200 Starlings, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Little Egrets, a Grey Heron, 30+ Swallows and a Common Seal at Tites Point. (Mike Davis).

Hatherop     A male Hobby hunting House Martins above Hatherop at 4:15pm today. (Chris McLaren).

Cam Green     From the garden this morning two Red Kites over, and a Jersey Tiger in nettles. (Brian Kings).

Leckhampton Court/St Peter’s Church     A Buzzard begging, a Jay, a Raven heard distantly, a Green Woodpecker, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and three Mistle Thrushes. (Steve Brown).

Aylburton Warth     Birds today included four juvenile Shelducks, three Mallards, a Grey Heron, three Oystercatchers, a Ringed Plover, 30 Dunlins, a Black-tailed Godwit, 517 Curlews in the high tide roost, a Redshank heard, ten Swallows, a Yellow Wagtail, a Meadow Pipit and 60 Linnets. WWT Slimbridge     From Middle Point this morning five Turnstones, three Sanderlings, a Knot, 60 Ringed Plovers and 45 Dunlins. (Ian Ralphs). Also a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull. (Paul Masters). Three Greenshanks (2 on the Rushy and 1 from Robbie Garnett hide), a Spotted Redshank on South Lake, six Ruff on the Rushy, five Green Sandpipers from Hogarth hide, a very showy juvenile Sparrowhawk hunting around the Kingfisher hide and then perched in front of the Martin Smith hide late afternoon, and the Black Swan still on South Lake. Awre     On the river mostly distant, a Common Crane, a Great White Egret, 53 Avocets, two Ringed Plovers, an adult Mediterranean Gull, probably the same juvenile Yellow-legged Gull and a Redstart in the bushes. (Dan Watson).

Guscar Rocks/Aylburton Warth     This morning birds included three Snow Geese, 14 Canada Geese, two female Shelducks and 11 ducklings, 25 Mallards, two Little Egrets, three Grey Herons, a Cormorant, a Peregrine, an Oystercatcher, 435 Curlews (107 at Guscar, 328 at Aylburton), four Common Sandpipers, a summer plumage adult Turnstone, a Skylark, ten Swallows, a Meadow Pipit and 50+ Carrion Crows at Guscar.
