WWT Slimbridge     An adult BITTERN was making regular trips this morning between reeds by the Estuary Tower and, presumably, Purton. (Mark Dowie).

Saul Warth     Early morning, no tide, 50 Shelducks including 15 ducklings, 12 Curlews, six Oystercatchers, a Little Egret, a pair of Grey Wagtails feeding a juvenile and gathering nest materials, a surprise juvenile Stonechat absent since 6th March, 30 Swallows, a Sand Martin, a Reed Warbler and the first Fox this year. Kingswood     Birds today included a Lesser Whitethroat in the field at end of Ash Path, a Firecrest seen in gardens near Duck Bridge. Other birds seen around village included Mistle Thrush, Grey Wagtail, Chiffchaff, Dipper, Kingfisher, Whitethroat, Blackcap and Goldcrest. (Tom McCarthy).

Ashleworth Ham     A ringing session caught 81 birds, including six Redstarts, a Reed Warbler, seven Sedge Warblers, four Blackcaps, 15 Whitethroats, four Chiffchaffs, a female Great Spotted Woodpecker and 11 Reed Buntings. Other species around the reserve included a pair of Greylags with three goslings, a pair of Shelduck with five ducklings, a Grey Heron, a Red Kite, a Peregrine, two Lapwings, two Curlews and a QUAIL called very briefly, just once. Gloucester    Around Gloucester this evening the male BLACK REDSTART singing from Kings Walk car-park, but still no sign of a female. A pair of Stonechats on territory at Port Ham, but no juveniles seen. A Kingfisher by the Castle Meads footbridge. (Andy Jayne).
