WWT Slimbridge     The CASPIAN TERN was elusive this morning and was seen on the canal between Slimbridge and Purton at 7:46am heading S (Dave Paynter). Then it was seen at Frampton heading N on the canal towards Epney. (John Rossetti). Then it flew over Frampton village (south end) heading SW towards Slimbridge. It dropped into the scrapes at Zeiss hide at midday. (Pete Ottley). Then it flew into the Rushy at 1:45pm. (Roberta Goodall) and late afternoon returned to Zeiss hide. Gloucester    This morning at 10am, while hay making on Hucclecote Meadows (Lobleys Drive SO 87112 16393), a Red Kite landed and scavenged a dead rat, chasing off crows in the process. (Ian Elphick).

Twyning     At Upham Meadow today still three Curlews, an adult male attending two fledged juveniles, a Buzzard, c100 corvids, mostly Rooks but a few Carrion Crows, a Reed Warbler, a Sedge Warbler, a Reed Bunting, a female Whinchat and two recently fledged juvenile Stonechats on neighbouring posts. Stonehouse     From the Ocean to Upend along the canal a Kingfisher flew E, a Red Kite, two Buzzards, a Little Egret at the Ocean and a Jay. Also Brown Hawkers, Migrant Hawkers, male and female Emperors, two Ruddy Darters, Broad-bodied Chasers, Emerald, Azure, Common Blue, Blue-tailed, Red-eyed and White-legged Damselflies and a Yellow-bellied Slider. At Middle Duntisbourne a Hobby through a small flock of Swallows, a Green Woodpecker, two Spotted Flycatchers, a Marsh Tit on a feeder and a juvenile Greenfinch.  From here to Duntisbourne Rouse along the footpath a Buzzard, a Red Kite, three Stock Doves, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Redstart and two Mistle Thrushes.
