Forest of Dean Two Sparrowhawks over Sandford Terrace in Aylburton this morning. At Crabtree Hill four Crossbills, 20 Siskins, two Stonechats and some big flocks of Mistle Thrushes and Redwings. At Woorgreens today at least 300 Fieldfares through and hundreds of Redwings, also a continuing passage of Siskins and Lesser Redpolls, probably 100 of each, and a few Bramblings over. 35 Siskins and 50 Lesser Redpolls ringed today. Nailsworth A fairly heavy movement of thrushes throughout the day. A count between 12:05-1:35pm saw 875+ Fieldfares and 365+ Redwings most flying W. A number of first-winter Blackbirds dropped in occasionally in twos and threes. Also 750+ Wood Pigeons, three Siskins, three garden Goldcrests and a female Green Woodpecker. (Terry Grant).

Nailsworth A fairly heavy movement of Fieldfares flying W between 1:35-3:35pm with a minimum of 1070 birds, also a female MERLIN being mobbed by crows also flying W. At Barton End at least 400 Golden Plovers circling over fields where a female Goshawk was hunting. Also belated news of 70 Fieldfares flying S down the Nailsworth Valley on the 30th October. Cambridge A female Kingfisher along the River Cam today. Also just off Ryall’s Lane near the Pumping Station four Greenfinches, a juvenile Little Grebe and two Buzzards. Several Mistle Thrushes along Ryall’s Lane and a Great Spotted Woodpecker heard at Tanglewood Farm. (Dave Abrams).
