WWT Slimbridge    Birds today included a Great White Egret flew over the grounds heading towards the Dumbles, an Avocet, 350-400 Golden Plovers, two Little Stints, three Curlews, c150 Dunlins and nine Ruff, 14 Russian White-fronted Geese, three Greenland-fronted Geese, a Ross’s Goose, two Ravens, two Marsh Harriers, c50 Fieldfares, 100 Redwings, c50 Meadow Pipits, a Skylark, four Common Gulls, four Water Rails, a Green Woodpecker, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Cetti’s Warblers and three Roe Deer. Tewkesbury     A Great White Egret along the River Avon, just up from the Sailing Club at 8:30am. (Sarah Loaring).

Coombe Hill Meadows     At 8am a Grey Heron, three Snipe, a Water Rail heard, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, Fieldfares and Redwings highly mobile along canal and five Lapwings. (Jeremy Holland). A putative Todd’s Canada Goose with the Greylags this evening, presumably the WWT bird. (Jeremy Squire). At first light 13 Mute Swans, many hundreds of Greylags flew out NE whilst still foggy, 35+ Canada Geese, 111 Wigeon, 76 Teal, 200 Mallards, eight Shovelers, two Pintails, a Sparrowhawk, a female Stonechat and a Cetti’s Warbler singing. Gretton     A male Tawny Owl in a garden at dawn and again at dusk, also a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers on feeders and a male Siskin with a flock of Goldfinches and Blue Tits feeding on alder. (Sheila Wasley).

Bisley     Mid afternoon a Tawny Owl resting in a tree trunk, c50 finches mainly Linnets with a few Chaffinches, 53 Fieldfares, two Redwings, a Mistle Thrush and two Yellowhammers. (John Fletcher).

Elmore     This afternoon until dusk a juvenile Goshawk, a Sparrowhawk, three Kestrels, five Snipe, a Green Sandpiper, a Barn Owl, two Ravens, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Chiffchaff, a Nuthatch, a Yellowhammer and four Reed Buntings. (Andy Jayne).

Ozleworth area    A Red Kite dropped down towards Owlpen valley from the Kingscote/Nympsfield road. Near the tower seven Skylarks, c50 Linnets, three Fieldfares, 1000+ Wood Pigeon in fields near the A4135 to the Lavender garden and 30+ mixed finch flock with at least three Bramblings near the phone box. 2 or 3 Red Kite over Newark Park this morning. Forest of Dean    Tawny Owls calling in the night at Lower Mitcheldean and a Crossbill over the road from Speech House today. (Chris Keeling).

Nailsworth     A large north easterly movement of Wood Pigeons today with at least 6800 in 20 minutes between 7:40-8am. Also a small southerly movement of Fieldfares, Redwings and Chaffinches at the same time (not counted). (Terry Grant). 

Chavenage Lane/Calcot area     At least 7000 Wood Pigeons, many flying NE, 160+ Skylarks disturbed from a stubble field, three Red Kites together, 72 Golden Plovers circling overhead, 360+ Fieldfares, 200+ Redwings, two Corn Buntings and eight Stonechats. (Terry Grant). 

Forest of Dean     VisMig this morning over Littledean between 7:40-8:55am included 2000 Thrushes, c250 Chaffinches, tens of Goldfinches, Siskins and Redpolls, four Bramblings and two Hawfinches. Also a Snipe this evening. (Dan Watson). At Crabtree Hill this morning 25 Crossbills in several groups, c150 Redwings, 12+ Fieldfares, 19 Blackbirds, three Stonechats, c80 Siskins, nine Lesser Redpolls, two Skylarks over and a Buzzard. Coombe Hill Meadows    This morning a Siskin, a Blackcap, several Chiffchaffs, a MERLIN through chasing Meadow Pipits and two Cetti’s Warblers. (Ian Ralphs). Also five Mute Swans, 40 Greylags, 20 Canada Geese, 133 Wigeon, 15 Teal, 12 Shovelers, two Gadwalls, 11 Pintails, two Grey Herons, two Cormorants, a Buzzard, a Lapwing, a Snipe, at least two Water Rails squealing, 2-3 Skylarks over, at least 50 Fieldfares and c150 Redwings. Halmore     A Woodcock flying between woods (reported by a neighbour), and another reported seen a week ago at SO695025. (Chris Newton).

WWT Slimbridge     A possible Todd’s Canada Goose on the Tack Piece today. (John Budd/Martin McGill). Three Greenland White-fronted Geese from Stephen Kirk hide. On South Lake 535 Black-tailed Godwits, 181 Dunlins, two Curlews and 35 Lapwings. From Zeiss hide 490 Dunlins, two Little Stints, 41 Lapwings, 620 Teal, two Water Rails and a Great White Egret. Nailsworth     A fairly heavy southerly movement this morning, and a smaller movement this afternoon. Brief watch periods included a very late SWALLOW, a Hawfinch, 70+ Chaffinches, 15 Golden Plovers, 680+ Fieldfares, 1350+ Redwings, 1,=000+ Wood Pigeons and a garden female Blackcap. (Terry Grant).

Sherborne     A female-type Marsh Harrier at Lodge Park this morning. (Keith Jennings).

Robinswood Hill     At 9am the Blue-and-Yellow Macaw calling around the car park briefly, before flying towards St. Barnabas church. Present for at least 17 years in the wild around this area. (Ian Elphick).

Witcombe Reservoirs     WeBS count today included two Greylags, two Mute Swans, male and female Wigeon, 42 Mallards, two Teal, four Tufted Ducks, a Little Grebe, four Cormorant, five Moorhens, 32 Coots, 84 Black-headed Gulls, a first-winter Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Little Owl 1 roosting in the orchard. Cambridge Arms Bridge     On the Gloucester Sharpness Canal this afternoon, a male Kingfisher, a Cetti’s Warbler calling, and at least 17 Common Darters, including three mating pairs. (Sheila Wasley).

Forest of Dean     Today at Staple Edge wood a small mixed flock of Chaffinches, Bramblings, Siskins and Goldfinches. Above Lower Soudley at 2:30pm two Hawfinches at SO666108 flying across and perching briefly and on the other side of Soudley Brook a Hawfinch atop a tall conifer. (Andrew McDermid & Louise Watson).

Guscar Rocks/Aylburton Warth     WeBS count today at the Guscar end 13 Canada Geese, 25 Wigeon, 200 Teal, a Grey Heron, a Buzzard, two Lapwings, five Snipe, 20 Curlews, a Green Sandpiper, 29 Redshanks, a Turnstone, 2-3 Skylarks, one in song, five Meadow Pipits, three Pied Wagtails, a very late SWALLOW, a pair of Stonechats and three Reed Buntings. From the Aylburton end three Grey Herons, two Cormorants, a Peregrine, 70 Lapwings, three Snipe, 320 Curlews, 50 Black-headed Gulls, five Herring Gulls, three Skylarks, 20 Meadow Pipits, a Pied Wagtail and three Reed Buntings.
