WWT Slimbridge    A SPOONBILL from the canoe safari lookout at 11am then flew out onto the estuary. (Tim Jukes). A WHITE STORK GB1B, from the reintroduction programme based on the Knepp Estate in Sussex, landed to the N of the main entrance on the roof of the duckery at 3:20pm. It remained around the grounds until 5:50pm at least. (Ian Hull).

Forest of Dean    In fields behind Clearwell Quarry, a Red Kite, two singing Skylarks and six Fallow Deer. (Alan Waterman). A local Buzzard drove off four passing Buzzards today. (Chris Keeling).

Sandhurst    Two different Mute Swans on nests on the brickpits, three Greylags, two Canada Geese, 50 Mallards, 5+ Grey Herons, a Little Egret, a Peregrine, a Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, a Swallow, at least five Blackcaps, a Willow Warbler, five Chiffchaffs and a Reed Bunting. (Mike Smart).

Berkeley shore     This morning a Whitethroat, a Yellow Wagtail, a Ringed Plover, two Common Sandpipers, five Wheatears and two Willow Warblers. (Paul Taylor). Also in the Pill at high tide, a female Goosander still, 24 Redshanks, a Curlew, a Shelduck and a few Teal. (Dave Emery).

Frampton    On the flashes and along the canal at Splatt Bridge this morning three Teal (1m, 2f), three pairs of Gadwalls, a pair of Mandarins, a GREAT WHITE EGRET, two Little Egrets, a Redshank, a Curlew and a Water Rail heard, six Swallows, a Sand Martin, a Whitethroat, two Willow Warblers and a Jay. At the pools no sign of the Bonaparte’s Gull, two Tree Pipits, a MERLIN, a Redstart, a Whitethroat, two Yellow Wagtails, a White Wagtail, a Sedge Warbler, 27 Willow Warblers, 45 Chiffchaffs, 31 Blackcaps, 200+ Sand Martins, 50+ Swallows and four Cetti’s Warblers. Charlton Kings Common     At dawn two Tree Pipits, four Chiffchaffs, two Blackcaps, three Siskins, five Yellowhammers, five Stock Doves, a vocal flock of 40 Linnets, a Kestrel and a Raven. (Chris Furley).

Frampton    At the pools this morning the BONAPARTE’S GULL, a Sparrowhawk, a male Redstart, 19 Willow Warblers, 34 Chiffchaffs, 29 Blackcaps, 200+ House Martins, 40+ Swallows, a Sedge Warbler, two Cetti’s Warblers, a Lapwing and two Oystercatchers. Please do not view from the Sailing Club and park sensibly in the village and leave exits clear.  On the flashes and along the canal at Splatt Bridge this morning six Teal (2m, 4f), three Redshanks, a male Sparrowhawk, a Water Rail feeding in a ditch, 19 Swallows, seven Sand Martins, three Willow Warblers, two Cetti’s Warblers and a Raven. A male Wheatear, two male White Wagtails, 6+ Pied Wagtails, four Meadow Pipits and eight Stock Doves on plough on the other side of the canal from Saul Lodge. (MK).

Coombe Hill Meadows     Mid-afternoon a GREAT WHITE EGRET, two Little Egrets, at least four Yellow Wagtails, 11 Pied Wagtails and a White Wagtail, an OSPREY at 2:04pm (just W of the track to Lower Apperley in a tree) which flew towards the river, a Ruff, four Redshanks, 160+ Sand Martins and a few Swallows, two Little Ringed Plovers and a Ringed Plover. Also today six Mute Swans, ten Canada Geese, two Greylags, six Shelducks, 20 Teal, 20 Mallards (including a duck with about eight newly hatched ducklings), nine Shovelers, two Grey Herons, five Coots, six Lapwings, two Snipe flushed and song from two Blackcaps, three Willow Warblers and at least five Chiffchaffs.
