Cotswold Water Park East    A late passage juvenile HONEY BUZZARD over Whelford Lakes, E of Fairford, at 1:30pm mobbed by Lesser Black-backed Gulls, then flew steadily S. Also two feeding Hobbies, and five Buzzards. (Martin Wright/Tony Perry).

Aston Down     A REDWING at Hampton Fields early this morning at cSO907002, another seen at the weekend off the Welsh Way  near Meysey Hampton. On Aston Down airfield  a Wheatear, a Mistle Thrush and nine Roe Deer and two Brown Hares. (Michael Cook).

Duntisbourne     This afternoon two Grey Partridges flew across the road at the Duntisbourne Leer turning and a mixed finch flock on a game cover crop including Linnets, Goldfinches, Chaffinches, House Sparrows, three Yellowhammers and two Corn Buntings. (Michael Cook).

Cleeve Hill     This evening a Whinchat, three Stonechats many Meadow Pipits on the move. (Greg Mabbett).

Tuesday 20th September 2016

Pope’s Hill     This morning at 8:40am from Pope’s Hill a GREAT SKUA flew up the western edge of the Vale. It was fairly high up at c150m, more or less level with Pope’s Hill, it gained even more height and headed off NW. A patch tick. (John Phillips).

Symonds Yat    From Yat Rock viewpoint the Peregrine pair, four Buzzards, Ravens, Buzzards, two Grey Herons, Jays, a Chiffchaff, Stock Doves, a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers, a Bullfinch, a Kingfisher, a Marsh Tit, Long-tailed Tits, a Goldcrest, a Tawny Owl calling and 20 Swallows flying S. Also nine Fallow Deer, two Bank Voles, a Red Admiral and a Small White butterfly. Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning c30 Teal, three Shovelers, 12 Mallards, five Grey Herons, c50 Lapwings, two Dunlins, a Green Sandpiper, 13 Snipe, a Buzzard, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, c45 Goldfinches, c25 Linnets, c20 Meadow Pipits and c50 Swallows passing. (Les Brown). Also a juvenile Little Ringed Plover and two Little Egrets. (Derek Hale).

Ashleworth Ham     c190 Canada Geese including the small race Cackling Goose, four Greylags, a Grey Heron, a Cormorant, ten Mallards, 16 Teal, a male Wigeon, c30 Swallows, c20 Sand Martins and c50 House Martins. (Les Brown).

Forest of Dean     At Crabtree Hill early morning male and female Stonechat, six Mistle Thrushes, two Chiffchaffs and three Goldcrests. (Derek Hale).

Witcombe Reservoirs     Nine Little Grebes and a Little Owl in the orchard and 26 Greylags and 38 Canada Geese. (Gordon Avery).

Westbury-on-Severn     Three DARK-BELLIED BRENT GEESE on the river at Westbury Strand this morning between 9-10am then flew off downriver. (John & Viv Phillips).

Lydney     A Cetti’s Warbler and a Chiffchaff heard, two Wheatears, 20 Goldfinches and a Stoat at the Docks this morning. (Frank Williams).

Cotswold Water Park East    At Pit 111 four Great Crested Grebes, 17 Coots, three Gadwalls, three Grey Herons, two Shovelers, two Reed Buntings, two female Tufted Ducks, eight Long-tailed Tits, five Cormorants, a Buzzard and two Goldcrests. At Pit 111a 33 Tufted Ducks, nine Red Crested Pochards, 19 Mallards, three Great Crested Grebes, 13 Cormorants, two Goldcrests, a Buzzard and a Grey Heron. At Pit 126 nine Great Crested Grebes, 176 Tufted Ducks, 90 Lapwings, 150 Black-headed Gulls and four Common Terns. (John Fletcher).

Forest of Dean     A Dipper at Cannop ponds today and c15 Siskins and three Goldfinches at New Fancy View today. (Derek Hale).

Sunday 18th September 2016

Nailsworth     At least five Tawny Owls calling at 2am this morning. A Swift flying over the valley at 6:50am and presumably the same bird flying S at 7:10am. (Terry Grant).

Frampton     Two Egyptian Geese on Court Lake today. (Lee Gardiner).

WWT Slimbridge     A Green Sandpiper, 13 Snipe, c100 Black-tailed Godwits, c10 Ruff and two GCRP Common Cranes today. (Derek Hale).

Highnam Woods     A Red Kite perched in a tree at 6:30pm then flew off. Also four Coal Tits. (John Fletcher).

Saul Warth     180+ Meadow Pipits, seven Yellow Wagtails, a Tree Pipit and two Siskins over this morning. Also two Wheatears and a few Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs in the bushes. (Francis Steuck).

Tresham      Four Wheatears and a Yellow Wagtail from the Monarch’s Way between Tresham and Boxwell this morning. (Vic Polley).

Miserden     Two Goshawks soaring between Miserden and Througham, several Buzzards and a Raven also active and a notable passage S of House Martins and Swallows. (Chris Furley).

Cirencester     A Little Egret flew along the River Churn towards the town centre at 8.30am. (Jon Mercer).

Berkeley shore     A Whinchat, a Stonechat and a Common Sandpiper and the first returning four Wigeon. (Paul Taylor).

Longney     A Red Kite drifting S down the Severn at 3:30pm. (Jon Mercer).

Frampton pools     An adult Yellow-legged Gull still, two Lesser Whitethroats, 12 Blackcaps, 23 Chiffchaffs, two Willow Warblers, two Kingfishers, three Grey Wagtails and 12 Swallows today. (Nick Goatman).

Tirley Sandpits     A Hobby chasing Swallows, 60 Swallows and 40+ House Martins SW, 17 Meadow Pipits, 15 Skylarks and 50+ Linnets on stubble, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Green Woodpecker, 12+ Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler, a Whinchat, five Bullfinches, two Ravens and a Lesser Whitethroat. (Mark Grieve).

Cirencester     In Cirencester Park today four Buzzards, several Red Admirals, hundreds of Speckled Woods and Wood Ants and 4- 5 Fallow Deer. (Felicity Cobb).
