Forest of Dean     At Nagshead from Lower Hide a Kingfisher, a Grey Heron and a Southern Hawker dragonfly.  At Cannop Ponds five Wild Boar. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Coombe Hill Meadows    14 Canada Geese, a juvenile Shelduck, 60 Teal, ten Mallards, two Shovelers, two Little Egrets, two Grey Herons, six Lapwings, six Snipe, four juvenile Ruff, a Skylark, at least 100 Swallows and c5 House Martins, a juvenile Yellow Wagtail, a Cetti’s Warbler, five Chiffchaffs and a Reed Bunting today. Cobney Meadows     Five Mallards, a Grey Heron, a Skylark, 20 Swallows, five Yellow Wagtails amongst cattle and five Chiffchaffs today. (Mike Smart).

Ashleworth Ham     53 Canada Geese, a Wigeon, 13 Teal and two Shovelers today. (Les Brown).

Tirley Sandpits     12 Chiffchaffs, five Bullfinches, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 48+ Swallows and 18+ House Martins S, a Skylark, a Cormorant, 12+Stock Dove, three Whitethroats, a Green Woodpecker, two Grey Wagtails (2nd patch record), a Willow Warbler, four Wheatears, a Whinchat and 69 Greylags and 142 Canada Geese on stubble. Friday 9th September 2016

Berkeley shore     A juvenile ARCTIC SKUA flew S past Sharpness Coastguards and two Goosanders (both redheads) also flew S. (Paul Taylor).

Tirley    30+ House Martins and 15+ Swallows over the village, a Sparrowhawk harrying a flock of Starling and two garden Chiffchaffs today. At the Sandpits a steady SW passage of 73+ Swallows, 22 House Martins and a Sand Martin, in the hedge a Whitethroat, a Grey Heron flew S and two Wheatears on a ploughed field. (Mark Grieve).

Ashleworth Ham     From the hide four Teal, a Wigeon, three Grey Herons, two Chiffchaffs, a Nuthatch and three Swallows S. (Mark Grieve).

Awre     50+ Common or Arctic Terns struggling downriver into the wind, an adult Mediterranean Gull on the foreshore and a juvenile ARCTIC SKUA moving downriver on the Slimbridge side at 11:15am. (Andy Jayne).

Coombe Hill Meadows    Six Grey Herons, a female Wheatear, seven Teal, a juvenile Cormorant, c80 Lapwings, six Little Egrets, a Kestrel, Swallows and House Martins, c20 Meadow Pipits, a female Shoveler, c20 Long-tailed Tits, a pair of Bullfinches and a Greenfinch. Other sightings included Small White, Speckled Wood and Comma butterflies, Common Darters, Emerald Damselfly and Migrant Hawker. (Chris & Phil Andrews).

Winstone     Three Red Kites circling over Winstone this afternoon. (Michael Cook).

Duntisbourne     50+ House Sparrows dusting at a farm near Duntisbourne. (Michael Cook).

Frampton Mansell     Seven Golden Plovers in a turned field near Frampton Mansell this morning and two Buzzards in the same field. Nearby 40+ House Martins feeding on a greenfly hatch over Old Bussage this evening. (Michael Cook).

Sharpness     A juvenile SHAG still on the pool at SARA Lifeboat Station this afternoon. (Andy Jordan).

Tirley     A Little Owl calling at 5am, at 9:30am 40+ House Martins and Swallows moved S over the village, in the hedge behind cottage two Chiffchaffs, two Blackcaps (m & f) and a Lesser Whitethroat. (Mark Grieve).

Frampton pools     A CURLEW SANDPIPER flew over calling, a LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER and a Spotted Flycatcher this morning. This evening the adult Yellow-legged Gull again, a Hobby, 27 Chiffchaffs, a Yellow Wagtail, a Grey Wagtail, five Blackcaps, a Whitethroat, a Willow Warbler and 50+ House Martins. (Nick Goatman).

WWT Slimbridge     Two first-winter Arctic Terns and two Avocets on the estuary mud off of Mid Point and a juvenile LITTLE GULL feeding on the receding tide. (Martin McGill). Cotswold Water Park East     At Pit 132 Whelford this evening a Peregrine, 13 Little Egrets, a Greenshank, a Golden Plover, two Dunlins, eight Ringed Plovers, five Little Ringed Plovers, seven Common Sandpipers, four Green Sandpipers and a Grey Wagtail. (Jon Mercer).

WWT Slimbridge     Two Whinchats, a Wheatear and a Redstart at Mid Point at 1.30pm. (Richard Hearn).

Forest of Dean     100+ mixed flock of Swallows and mainly House Martins and two Ravens at Crabtree Hill. Also three Tree Pipits, a male Sparrowhawk and a singing Chiffchaff. (Frank Williams). A drake Gadwall at Cannop ponds. (Nick Hopkinson).

Selsley Common     Between 4:30-5:30pm a Spotted Flycatcher, a Red Kite over and a female Wheatear. (Colin Greenfield).

Hartpury     A Whinchat at the Orchard Centre this evening. (Steve French/Alan Hooper).

Sandhurst Hill     Three Wheatears this afternoon. (Martin Greenish).

Gloucester     At Horsbere Brook Flood Storage Lake this morning two Little Grebes, two Grey Herons, a Little Egret, a Snipe, 50+ Goldfinches, three Whitethroats and a Kingfisher. (Martin Greenish).

Between Tirley and Gloucester     At Tirley 120+ Swallows flew SE, at Maisemore 100+ House Martins and Swallows moving S downriver, at Staunton 100+ Swallows moving S, at Corse 50+ House Martins over the old Cider Barn and at Hartpury 50+ Swallows moving S. (Mark Grieve).

Chalford     On the lake between Chalford and Daneway on the Thames and Severn canal towpath a Little Egret in breeding plumage today. (Jim Ward).

Cotswold Water Park East     At Pit 132 a Pintail, 116 Teal, two Wigeon, Egyptian Geese, a juvenile Peregrine caught a Starling, two Greenshanks, five Little Ringed Plovers, 11 Ringed Plovers, two Dunlins, four Green Sandpipers, five Common Sandpipers, a Grey Wagtail and two Yellow Wagtails. Sharpness     A MANX SHEARWATER on the river towards Berkeley at 10:42am. (Mark Dowie). A juvenile SHAG on the basin wall at the pool at SARA Lifeboat Station at 2pm. (Les Ditchburn).

WWT Slimbridge     A juvenile WOOD SANDPIPER on the Rushy all day today. (Martin McGill). Also today from Zeiss Hide two Pintails, two Avocets, 17 Ringed Plovers, four Ruff, 115 Dunlin, five Redshanks, two Snipe and a Cetti’s Warbler. At South Lake 125 Black-tailed Godwits, nine Knot,11 Ruff, four Curlew Sandpipers, a Green Sandpiper, two juvenile Spotted Redshanks, two Greenshanks and 27 Redshanks. (Andy Jayne) and a Garganey on the Rushy. Frampton     This morning at Court Lake the adult Yellow-legged Gull still, two Shovelers, eight Great Crested Grebes, 14 Gadwall, two Common Tern and 20+ Sand Martins flying S. (Nick Goatman).

Beachley Point     A Redstart, a Tree Pipit, two Lesser Whitethroats, six Whitethroats, a Greenshank and a Painted Lady this morning. (Lewis Thomson).

Guscar Rocks     A CURLEW SANDPIPER, a Common Sandpiper, a Yellow Wagtail and three Wheatears today. (Lewis Thomson).

Longney     At high tide today 90+ Curlew, 15 Black-tailed Godwits, 12 Common Sandpipers, 350+ Canada Geese, 50+ Barnacle Geese and five Little Egrets. (Mark Dowie).

Lydney     Partial Cetti’s Warbler song heard at Lydney Docks near the old Pine End Works entrance at 11am and a Common Sandpiper on  river. (Frank Williams).

Cleeve Hill     Two Whinchats and three Stonechats in the Heather Enclosure today. (Roy Shilham).

Ashleworth Ham     Five Goldcrests (4 juvs), a Kingfisher, a Nuthatch, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, two Ravens, 15 Mallards, five Shovelers, a Wigeon and two Grey Herons today. Also an active Hornets nest in old high woodpecker hole close to the hide. (John Fletcher).

Sharpness     Two MANX SHEARWATERS off of Berkeley shore viewed from Coastguards from 11:09-11:38am when they were lost to view. (Paul Taylor). Probably the same two also seen off of Slimbridge. Also a juvenile SHAG still on the pool at SARA Lifeboat Station at 2pm. (Steve Brown).

WWT Slimbridge     The GREAT WHITE EGRET was seen from the Land Rover Safari again today. (Paul Daunter).

Frampton     A WOOD SANDPIPER flew over the house at SO749085 at 7pm. (Eric Palmer). This afternoon a juvenile Goshawk at Court Lake. (Gordon Hodgson). This evening two Water Rails calling, the adult Yellow-legged Gull still, two Grey Wagtails, 15 Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler, five Blackcaps, a Common Tern and 50+ Sand Martins. (Nick Goatman).

Nailsworth     Between 7:05-7:40am 1000+ House Martins and 40+ Swallows moving S  along the Nailsworth Valley and a further 220+ House Martins and 30+ Swallows between 8:20-9.45 am. (Terry Grant).

Cleeve Hill     Five Whinchats, two Stonechats and a Marsh Tit the best this morning. (Greg Mabbett).

Berkeley     Late news on Tuesday 30th August a female/juvenile Marsh Harrier over the garden flew low S before circling and drifting high N. (Tom Weston-McClung).

Tirley     39 Linnets, ten Skylarks on the stubble, 25+ Swallows and 6+ House Martins over S, and a Blackcap and a Chiffchaff. Also a Tawny Owl calling at 11pm. (Mark Grieve).

WWT Slimbridge     Four CURLEW SANDPIPERS and four Ruffs on South Lake and another CURLEW SANDPIPER and a Ruff from Zeiss hide. Also on South Lake two Green Sandpipers, a Common Sandpiper, 25+ Redshanks and 70+ Black-tailed Godwits.
