Coombe Hill Meadows     The Russian White-fronted Goose still this morning, seen distantly from Grundon Hide roosting with 40 Greylags. Also a Lapwing, 1200 Wigeon, c1500 Teal, seven Tufted Ducks, eight Gadwalls, 97 Shovelers, a Mute Swan, 250+ Canada Geese, five Shelducks, 103 Pintails, a Grey Heron, 50 Black-headed Gulls over, a Kingfisher, a female/immature Yellowhammer and six Bullfinches along the very muddy canal path, five Long-tailed Tits and large flocks of Redwings and Fieldfares feeding in the adjacent fields. Ashleworth Ham     Six very mobile and always obscured swans thought to be an adult Whooper Swan and five Bewick’s Swans (2 ads, 3 juvs) they all flew off high NE at 1pm. (Les Ditchburn).

Cotswolds     A Red Kite near the Puesdown Inn at 10:15am, a Red Kite at Windrush Camp at 12:03pm and two Red Kites over the small copse by the Shipton Oliffe turn off at 12:10pm. (Gord Avery)

Maisemore     From Court Lake and along the Severn Way this afternoon birds included 25 Long-tailed Tits (11 & 14), two Green Woodpeckers, a Song Thrush, 13 Mallards, three Moorhens, a Cormorant, a Grey Partridge, 21 Red-legged Partridges, 150 Rooks and 37 Jackdaws and a Buzzard. (John Fletcher).

Coombe Hill Meadows     A White-fronted Goose from Grundon hide and a Little Owl today, the first for 4 years. (Ian Hull).

Ashleworth Ham    110 Greylags, 90 Canada Geese, at least 400 Wigeon, at least 300 Teal, four Gadwalls, 100 Mallards, ten Pintails, 50 Shovelers, 150 Lapwings, at least three Snipe, c5 Fieldfares and three Roe Deer today. (Mike Smart).

Frampton    A Cetti’s Warbler in the pool alongside the cricket pitch on Frampton Green at 4pm also Chiffchaff at Splatt Bridge and 15 Curlews over towards the Severn. (Mark Hobson). On the Sailing Lake a different adult Yellow-legged Gull, two male Pochards, 43 Tufted Ducks, five Great Crested Grebes and five Little Grebes. (Nick Goatman).

Saul Warth     This afternoon five Chiffchaffs, 30 Chaffinches, a Grey Wagtail, a WATER PIPIT, 30 Meadow Pipits, 70 Siskins over W, two Avocets, three Grey Plovers, a Knot, 80 Curlews, 40 Dunlins and four Common Cranes over towards WWT. (Gordon Hodgson).

Edgeworth     Along the Frome valley, a Goshawk, six Buzzards, a Grey Wagtail and a Peacock butterfly. Also 16 Golden Plovers towards Duntisbourne Abbots. (Chris Furley).

Gloucester     A BLACK REDSTART still at the Cathedral at College Green at 2:40pm. Quite mobile but seen on buildings to the right as accessed from the Beatrix Potter shop. (Jeremy Squire/Helen Bojaniwska). At Horsbere Brook FSA this morning crows mobbing a Buzzard and a Raven over the fields between the lake and Chosen Hill. Several Stock Doves feeding with a large c120 flock of Woodpigeons on the adjacent farmland and c18 Skylarks foraging there also. (Caroline Quinn).

Stroud     This afternoon four Dippers along the Frome, three along Fromebanks parallel with Dr Newton’s Way and one where the river runs parallel to the canal towpath between the railway viaduct and Bowbridge Wharf. (Caroline Quinn).

Kingscote     At Croome’s Grove Farm at least eight Bramblings in a flock of c300 birds, mainly Chaffinches, on a Sunflower field corner where the B4058 intersects with the road going down to Uley. (Vic Polley).

Netheridge Farm     Around the Netheridge/Rea Lane area including the Lapwing which flew S calling, a Mistle Thrush singing, two Jays, four Red-legged Partridges, two Ravens, five Stock Doves, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Green Woodpecker and ten Snipe today. (Mark Hobson).

Sharpness/Purton     Late afternoon today a Little Grebe on the canal, a pair of Ravens and two Rock Pipits at SARA. (Ian Ralphs).

WWT Slimbridge     Birds today included eight Cattle Egrets, 280 Black-tailed Godwits and four Knot, three adult Greenland White-fronted Geese, three Dark-bellied Brent Geese and a Marsh Harrier hunting. (Magnus Carter/Roy Kinchin).

Compton Abdale     At least two Red Kites, two Buzzards, a Kestrel, a Yellowhammer, a Jay, 6+ Chaffinches and a small group of Long-tailed Tits. Also, 13 Roe Deer running together across the field and leaping the fences. (Andrew & Gill Worthington).

Tewkesbury     The juvenile GREAT NORTHERN DIVER was off of Mythe Treatment Works viewed from Mythe Bridge at first light, initially in Worcs but then crossing the river into Glos. There was no further sign later in the day but it’s likely still around as it has been going missing for long periods. Also 18 Cormorants flew N from Severn Ham. (MK). RSPB Highnam Woods     This afternoon three Marsh Tits visiting the feeders by the hide near the entrance along with two Coal Tits, c12 Great Tits and c18 Blue Tits. On the loop trail two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, eight Goldcrests and three Mistle Thrushes along with numerous Chaffinches, Greenfinches, Goldfinches and Long-tailed Tits, and a Buzzard patrolling the edge of the woods along the A40. Coombe Hill Meadows     North scrape on 0.97m, a sheet of water in front of the Grundon hide, and the circular walk probably not passable. Birds included three Mute Swans, 50 Canada Geese, 385 Wigeon, 80 Teal, 36 Mallards, a Pintail, 17 Shovelers, two Grey Herons, a Peregrine, a Red Kite, 17 Lapwings, a Golden Plover, a Dunlin, two Great Black-backed Gulls, 50 Black-headed Gulls, c5 Fieldfares, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Blackcap and a Chiffchaff. Tewkesbury     After no sign this morning, the juvenile GREAT NORTHERN DIVER was back on the Severn at 2:20pm today, 300-400 yards upstream of the weir at Tewkesbury. It was on the far side of the river paddling hard to go upstream, occasionally diving. (Geoff Bryant).

Frampton     From Splatt Bridge this afternoon a Great White Egret, a Chiffchaff, 65 Golden Plovers and 70 Wigeon flew S. On the river two Avocets, three Grey Plovers and 120 Dunlins. (Gordon Hodgson).

Chavenage Lane/Calcot area     Five Stonechats, a Red Kite, 450+ Fieldfares and 130+ Redwings today. (Terry Grant).

Bisley     Late afternoon 37 Fieldfares, a Yellowhammer, seven Goldfinches and three Linnets. (John Fletcher).

Tewkesbury     The juvenile GREAT NORTHERN DIVER was on the River Severn just upstream of the Avon confluence at 8:50am. (Steve Whitehouse). It was then on Healing’s Mill pit at 11am. (Tim Cash). At midday it was on the Avon behind the derelict Healing’s Mill, 120mtrs downstream towards the Severn. (Les Ditchburn).

Ashleworth Ham     This afternoon birds included nine Snipe, 75 Lapwings, 31 Shovelers, 15 Pintails, 250 Wigeon, 65 Teal, 100+ Mallards, three Grey Herons, a Cormorant, a Red Kite, a Peregrine and 300 Rooks over. (John Fletcher).

Tewkesbury     A GREAT NORTHERN DIVER on the River Severn above the weir from 11:30am until 3:30pm but no sign after that above or below the weir. (Tim & Elaine Cash/Mike Smart). Gloucester     The male BLACK REDSTART again on the South side of the Cathedral at 8:40am, calling at times. (Andy Jayne). Then again at 9:50am. (Paul Masters). Just after 11am it was high up on the Choir Roof, but not again by midday. (Paul Clark).

Sharpness    The male BLACK REDSTART still perched on top of the old lightship at the end of Dock Road at 12:30pm. (Tim Jukes).

Gloucester     A male BLACK REDSTART on the rooftops of the terraced houses on St Mary’s Square to the W of Gloucester Cathedral at midday. (Geoff Bryant). At the university campus at Oxstalls a Chiffchaff in trees along Wootton Brook this morning, a Green Woodpecker, two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, c30 Redwings, a Jay, a Song Thrush, c9 Chaffinches, c14 Greenfinches and a c40 Goldfinches feeding in the alders behind the Business School. This afternoon at Alney Island a Buzzard near Castlemeads car park, two Pheasants calling in the fields along the Severn at dusk, six Reed Buntings in the reedbed by the electricity substation, a male Kestrel on the pylons nearby and only a small flock of c30 Starlings. Hazleton     By the gate on the bend 100+ Bramblings and a few Goldfinches and Chaffinches all feeding on seed on the farm track. (Duncan Dine).

From Splatt Bridge a Little Owl, a Redwing, a Grey Wagtail, two Cormorants, a Grey Heron and Long-tailed Tits. At Court field the roosting Tawny Owl, a Treecreeper, 20 Greylags, ten Canada Geese, small numbers of Gadwall and Wigeon, a Great Crested Grebe, a Tufted Duck and four Cormorants. (Paul Sutton).

Nailsworth     A Great White Egret which appeared to be coming to the garden ponds to join a Grey Heron which was already there, but both accidentally flushed. (Terry Grant).

Cheltenham    No sign of the Goosander at Pittville Park at 8:30am but a Kingfisher briefly. (Jeremy Holland).

Stonehouse     In the St Cyr’s Church area a male Kingfisher, a Little Egret over and a Jay. At Nupend a female Kingfisher and a female Great Spotted Woodpecker. At Millend, Eastington a Jay, a Cormorant over, a Grey Wagtail and a small flock of Goldfinches. At Beards Mill a male Kingfisher, a Cormorant over and a Buzzard. (Paul Sutton).

Cambridge     In Rosie’s Wood today two Kingfishers, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Chiffchaff, a Buzzard and two Green Woodpeckers calling. Treecreepers and Bullfinches heard in the woods just W of Ballards Lane. (Dave Abrams).

Tewkesbury    At Lowe Lode Brickpits 68 Cormorants in the roost. Also a pair of Mute Swans with four immatures, a Wigeon, three Gadwall and two Teal. (Mike Smart).

Ashleworth Ham     At dusk up to 200 Canada Geese came in to roost and at least five Snipe, probably many more, flying out at dusk. (Mike Smart).

Longney     In meadows and Crib Sands viewed from SO76241176 late afternoon 80 Lapwings, 47 Canada Geese, 13 Mallards, a Grey Heron, 530+ Black-headed Gulls, two Great Black-backed Gulls, 100+ Lesser Black-backed Gulls, five Herring Gulls, a female Stonechat, 37 Rooks, 75+ Carrion Crows and 15 Jackdaws. Chavenage Lane     600+ Fieldfares, 350+ Redwings, 300+ Linnets, 600+ Chaffinches and 150+ Bramblings in with them, all feeding in a stubble field and an adjoining Linseed field. Also five Stonechats and 2000+ Woodpigeons. Many of the thrushes were bathing in nearby puddles. (Terry Grant).

WWT Slimbridge     Four Pink-footed Geese (3 ads & a juv) on the Bottom New Piece from Kingfisher hide. Also a Greenshank and an Avocet on the Rushy and a Peregrine from Zeiss hide. (Roy Kinchin). Nailsworth     A Red Kite over Nailsworth Garden Centre at 3:30pm today. (Dan Underhill).

Horsley     A Red Kite over the tip at Pike Quarry and a male Kestrel on wires nearby at midday. (Paul Sutton).

Gloucester     Three Stonechats in the reeds around Horsbere Brook Flood Storage Area lake this morning, c15 Skylarks feeding on adjacent farmland with c18 Redwings, a Buzzard and a male Kestrel hunting over farmland and the Mound. Half the perimeter of the lake is closed off for maintenance works at the moment. (Caroline Quinn).

Coombe Hill Meadows     This afternoon on the north scrape from Grundon hide c350 Wigeon, c150 Teal, 40 Shovelers, six Pintails, 43 Lapwings, a Grey Heron and three Mute Swans. The hedgerows and trees along the canal path had four Bullfinches, c40 Fieldfares and c35 Redwings, a Green Woodpecker, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a male Yellowhammer. The canal path is very muddy but passable, the circular trail via Long Pool hide and Snipe Pond are currently impassable due to flooding. (Caroline Quinn). Earlier this morning four Mute Swans, 15 Canada Geese, 915+ Wigeon, 300+ Teal, 40 Mallards, a Grey Heron, at least two Water Rails calling, 2+ Pied Wagtails and a female Blackcap feeding on Mistletoe along the towpath.
