Woodend     At 1:40pm a Sparrowhawk flew straight across the A38 W to E by the old Claypits Garage. (Paddy Doyle).

Cleeve Hill     Two RING OUZELS flew into the scrub at the top of the Washpool Valley at 9:45am scoped from the heather enclosure. Also six Ravens, two Kestrels, a Green Woodpecker and a Chiffchaff. Near the Bill Smyllie Reserve two Marsh Tits, a Nuthatch and a small flock of Long-tailed Tits. (Steve Brown).

Saul Warth     This afternoon a pair of Stonechats and 25+ Goldfinches sheltering along Hock Ditch. On the Warth the Rock Pipit still, two Meadow Pipits, two adult Great Black-backed Gulls and four Mute Swans. (MK).

Cotswold Water Park East   At Whelford Pools around Pits 111, 111a and 111b birds included eight Tufted Ducks, a Shoveler, 101 Lapwings over, six Cormorant, four Great Crested Grebes, 31 Coots, three Mute Swans, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Kingfisher, a Treecreeper, seven Long-tailed Tits and three Buzzards. At Pit 126, 92 Tufted Ducks, two Great Crested Grebes, 100+ Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a Green Woodpecker. (John Fletcher). Frampton to Saul Warth     A Spotted Redshank flew N past Splatt Bridge. Also a Marsh Harrier flew S, two Stonechats, a Wigeon and two Pintails flew S. On the river 18 Grey Plovers, 22 Dunlins, five Black-tailed Godwits, two Avocets and a juvenile Peregrine. (Gordon Hodgson).

Also from Zeiss hide a female/juvenile Marsh Harrier, a Peregrine over, two Buzzards, 1-2 Grey Herons, two Black-tailed Godwits, 6+ Ruff, a Redshank, a Greenshank, seven Snipe, Lapwings and 12 Common Cranes. From Kingfisher hide two Bar-headed Geese with the feral Barnacle Geese. At Mid-Point at noon a Little Egret, a Curlew and three Meadow Pipits with a Grey Heron, two Ravens and a Kestrel over. On the Rushy two Black-tailed Godwits and three Snipe. From South Lake hide the juvenile Black Tern still, a Little Grebe, two Dunlins amongst the Godwits, a Snipe and eight Redshanks. Berkeley shore     A Greenshank still in the Pill with c50 Redshanks. Also an adult Mediterranean Gull, two Wheatears, six Stonechats (1 male), two Rock Pipits and a Cetti’s Warbler heard. (Paul Taylor).

Minchinhampton     A Corncrake calling briefly at 4pm at Hampton Fields next to the golf course (Minchinhampton Golf Club) along the lane to Cherington. (Terry Grant).

Nailsworth/Ruskin Millponds     A Little Egret, a Dipper, a Siskin, a Grey Wagtail, three Nuthatches, nine Moorhens (two juveniles), a Coot, six Mallards, a Little Grebe pair with two juveniles, two Marsh Tits, six Long-tailed Tits, seven House Martins, a Buzzard and a Raven. Also two other Dippers, one pursued by a male Sparrowhawk, reported other birders. Cherington     At Cherington Lake and in surrounding woodland birds included two Kingfishers, a Marsh Tit, two Goldcrests, two Nuthatches, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Jays, two Buzzards, two Grey Herons, seven Long-tailed Tits, 41 Jackdaws, two Mute Swans and 37 Mallards. (John Fletcher).

Thrupp    A male Goshawk circling over the lower slopes of Park Wood late afternoon. (Martin Wright).

Hucclecote     A juvenile Sparrowhawk in the garden this afternoon, mobbed by five Carrion Crows and two Magpies, then flew out of sight. (Harold Smith).

Frampton     At the pools a female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER circled the Sailing Lake then headed inland, also two Curlews, three Green Sandpipers, nine Swallows, 14 House Martins, two Pochards, four Tawny Owls and a Little Owl. (Nick Goatman). A juvenile Black Tern briefly at Splatt Bridge this morning, a Great White Egret over and still 1000’s of Black-headed Gulls on the new flood. (Gordon Hodgson).

Nailsworth     90+ House Martins in one flock flew S at 8:20am and presumably the same birds flew back N half an hour later in the face of heavy clouds. (Terry Grant).

Woodchester Park     Five Stonechats (3m, 2f) and a late Whinchat in a sweetcorn field at the entrance to the park, and three male Mandarins on one of the lakes. (Terry Grant).

Maisemore     Along Church Road, the pool and to the weir on the Severn this afternoon birds included four Redwings, two Little Grebes, a male Blackcap, two Chiffchaffs, a Cormorant, two Jays, seven Long-tailed Tits, two Green Woodpecker, two Buzzards and a Red Kite. (John Fletcher).

Cotswold Water Park West    Four Redwings flew W over Shorncote Reedbeds this morning. (Jon Mercer).

Saul Warth     A DARK-BELLIED BRENT GOOSE flew into The Noose off of Saul Warth at 11:50am, presumably the Sharpness bird. Also a Grey Plover, two Curlews, 15 Lapwings, three Little Egrets, a juvenile Wheatear, a pair of Stonechats, 20+ Swallows, 20+ House Martins, 20+ Meadow Pipits and two Chiffchaffs. (MK).
