Highnam Woods     This afternoon a Chiffchaff which was probably the bird mooted as Iberian, always difficult in high canopy but seems to be a Common Chiffchaff with an irregular song. Also an elusive Nightingale singing strongly. (MK).

Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the Peregrine pair and another Peregrine on Great Doward Hill nearby, a female Sparrowhawk, Buzzards, a Red Kite, Ravens, a Chiffchaff, a Song Thrush, a male Blackcap, a pair of Mandarins, a pair of Stock Doves, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a pair of Kingfishers, a female Goosander, Swallows and House Martins. Other sightings included six Fallow Deer, a Bank Vole, Saint Marks Flies, Green Longhorn Moths, Speckled Wood,Holly Blue and Brimstone butterflies. Gloucester     At Horsbere Brook Flood Storage birds during the WeBS count included two Mute Swans, 11 Mallards, a Cormorant, a Little Egret, a Buzzard and a male Reed Bunting singing. (Gord Avery).

Witcombe Reservoirs        Birds during the WeBS count included two Mute Swans, six Canada Geese, 12 Mallards, 12 Tufted Ducks, six Great Crested Grebes, three Cormorants and a male Grey Wagtail. (Gord Avery).

Lydney to Aylburton Warth     This morning four Shelducks off the Harbour, an Oystercatcher on Lydney Sands and a Canada Goose on the New Grounds. In Warth Brook two Mallards, a Redshank, four Canada Geese, a Shelduck and two Lapwings. Also two Wheatears, numerous Skylarks, Meadow Pipits and Linnets, a Cetti’s Warbler heard on the canal at the docks end of Lydney and a Roe Deer on the shore not far from the entrance to Lydney Harbour apparently eating seaweed. Ebley    A Grasshopper Warbler reeling and seen briefly in the hedge by the front garden on Foxmoor Lane. Also an early morning visit from the Ring-necked Parakeet again. (Steve Kear).

Berkeley shore     Early morning a Brambling over NE, a White Wagtail, six Yellow Wagtails, a Common Sandpiper, four Wheatears and a Reed Warbler. (Paul Taylor). At 5:55pm 44+ Curlews and at least two Bar-tailed Godwits flew high N upriver from Berkeley Pill. Also two Wheatears, two Swallow, three House Martins, 12+ Teal, a male Blackcap, two Skylarks and a Buzzard. (Tom Weston-McClung).

Coombe Hill Meadows     This morning 30 Linnets, a pair of Yellowhammers and a Lesser Whitethroat and a Whitethroat. (Ian Hull). Also at south meadow four Wheatears on the ‘brown’ field. (Les Ditchburn). Along the canal all singing three Blackcaps, three Chiffchaffs, a Whitethroat, a Willow Warbler, five Sedge Warblers and a Reed Bunting. Also from the hide this afternoon the drake GARGANEY again, c20 Teal, 12 Wigeon, five Shelducks, two Gadwalls, a Shoveler, 3+ Redshanks, 8+ Lapwings, two Oystercatchers, two Grey Heron, 2+ Little Ringed Plovers, two Mute Swans and two Canada Geese. Tewkesbury     At the Mythe Reserve today four Buzzards, Blackcaps, a Grey Heron, Chiffchaffs, a Green Woodpecker, a female Sparrowhawk, Wrens, Stock Doves, and a pair of Long-tailed Tits. Other sightings included Small Tortoiseshell, Brimstone, Orange Tip, Green-veined White, Large White, Peacock, Speckled Wood and Holly Blue butterflies, Seven Spot and Sixteen Spot Ladybirds and four Dock Bugs. Cheltenham     Sparrowhawks are nesting again in Pittville Park. (John Sanders). At Pittville Lawn at midday a Buzzard calling but not seen. Robins and Long-tailed Tits appear to be nesting in the same garden bush. At Prestbury Racecourse Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, Robin and Blackbird all heard but not seen.
