Cotswold Water Park West     On Pit 41 nine Goosanders and six Goldeneyes.  Nearby a Water Rail calling, two Little Egrets, a Jay, a Green Woodpecker, two Bullfinches and a

Hailes     At Hailes Abbey in the car park by the church, a large flock of Chaffinches with several Bramblings feeding underneath beech trees today. Nearby a large flock of Fieldfares and Redwings in the orchard in Didbrook. (Alan Baxter).

Gloucester     At Horsbere Brook Flood Storage Lake a Mute Swan, a Teal, five Coot, three Snipe, a singing Skylark and eight Meadow Pipits. (Mike Smart).

Maisemore     A Red Kite over at 7:30am, drifting W slowly. (Keith Stephens).

Frampton pools     The WOODLARK still with c50 Skylarks on stubble viewed from Marsh Lane in the first field on the right, S of the Sailing Lake, at SO7474306502 until flushed by the farmer flailing hedges into the first kale field on the right after the Sailing Lake at SO7510206689. The bird is very elusive and difficult to see in the stubble and a scope is necessary. Also this morning the adult Yellow-legged Gull still on the Sailing Lake, 140+ Coots and along Marsh Lane six Mistle Thrushes, a Fieldfare, two Yellowhammers, three Reed Buntings, a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers and a Green Woodpecker. Also today 15 Reed Buntings, four Yellowhammers, 30+ Linnets, 92 Lapwings, two Chiffchaffs, 104 Gadwalls, four Pintails, 12 Shovelers, 103 Teal, 326 Coots, a Yellow-legged Gull, a Great White Egret, 50+Fieldfares and 100+ Redwings. Coombe Hill Meadows     116 Teal, 44 Wigeon, three Shovelers, six Grey Herons, two Snipe, small numbers of Fieldfares going over high SW early on, flocks of at least 200 Fieldfares and 50 Redwings in the hedges. (Mike Smart).

Gloucester     In the landfill site area at midday 450 Herring Gulls, 100 Black-headed Gulls, two Ravens and 1250 Starlings on the tip. A pair of Stonechats on the slope by the Severn Way. (Gordon Avery).

Cheltenham     Six Long-tailed Tits on a garden feeder this lunchtime in Westbourne Drive, Pittville. (Clare McNulty).

Forest of Dean     A LONG-EARED OWL ringed at Crabtree Hill today, also a juvenile male Sparrowhawk. (Rob Husbands).

Gloucester     At Robinswood Hill from Forest View Road mid afternoon birds included two Goldcrests, two Green Woodpeckers, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, two Jays, a Buzzard and seven Goldfinches. (John Fletcher).

Peddington     A Peregrine and a Kestrel just below the deer park near Berkeley. Also several Green Woodpeckers and 15-20 Fieldfares today. (Andrew Jones).

Hardwicke     A Grey Heron stalking one of the balancing ponds in Quadrant Way at 8:10am but moved on by several Magpies and two Jays in the Oaks opposite. (Michael Cook).

Saul Warth     A WATER PIPIT at high tide today, presumably a returning bird, also 30+ Dunlins, ten Curlews, a Redshank, two Grey Herons, seven adult Great Black-backed Gulls, three Meadow Pipits, two Pied Wagtails, a Grey Wagtail and two Fieldfares. (MK). Pics by Mike.

Hawling area     350+ Lapwings and 170+ Golden Plovers on two fields of winter wheat and stubble at SP073219 by the minor lane N of A436. Also six Red Kites feeding on  earthworms on a nearby wheat field at Salperton Estate S of the A436. (Harvey Sherwood).

Cleeve Hill     A juvenile HEN HARRIER S of, and over Cleeve Hill trig point at 1:30pm. It was trying its luck amongst Linnet/finch flocks and being mobbed by corvids. (Harvey Sherwood).

WWT Slimbridge     From Zeiss hide at 11:35am a ringtail HEN HARRIER was hunting over the reeds on the river’s edge for 10 minutes. A female MERLIN chased a small bird for 5-6 mins over the reedbeds on the river edge and was lost to view over the river. Also two Peregrines, one on post with a kill and a male Sparrowhawk. Eight White-fronted Geese on the Tack Piece and six from the Holden Tower. The Bewick’s Swan was with the captive ones on Big Pen and two Grey Wagtails in the Rushy. (Alan Baxter). Two adult Whooper Swans on the Bottom New Piece flood, viewable from Zeiss hide or Kingfisher hide, earlier that were on the Tack Piece. (Slimbridge Sightings).

Frampton pools     This morning two Crossbills over the Sailing Lake with eight Siskins, also 100+ Redwings, 20+ Fieldfares, four Curlews and 100+ Woodpigeons. (Nick Goatman).

Symonds Yat     In the Yat Rock area today the resident Peregrine pair and another Peregrine pair on Doward Hill to the W of the viewpoint, a male Sparrowhawk, six Buzzards, Ravens, a Little Egret, two pairs of Mandarins, a Mistle Thrush, Redwings, two Nuthatches, a Little Grebe, Jays and a pair of Bullfinches.
