Frampton     On the Sailing Lake the adult Yellow-legged Gull, 16+ Little Egrets, a male Pochard, 100+ Tufted Ducks, 40+ Teal, 40+ Coots, 26+ Cormorants and two Chiffchaffs. In the Gravel Wash a Blackcap, two more Chiffchaffs, a Green Sandpiper flew S and a Kestrel. On Court Lake 80+ Coots, 28+ Canada Geese, 40+ Mute Swans and six Gadwall. At 4pm five Swallows flew SW over the Sailing Lake, surviving an ambush from a Sparrowhawk. (MK).

Painswick Beacon     Highlights this morning a Sparrowhawk, ten Buzzards, 174 Stock Doves, 30 Ravens, 27 Skylarks, two Swallows, 12 alba Wagtails, 92 Meadow Pipits, 188 Chaffinches, a Hawfinch west at 8:35am, 60 Linnets and ten Siskins. (John Fleming).

Painswick Beacon     Highlights this morning  from 7:15am-12 noon an OSPREY flew S at 10:15am, 39 Buzzards, two Red Kites, five Sparrowhawks, two Hobbies, 36 House Martins, 22 Swallows, 64 Meadow Pipits, three Redwings, 29 Siskins, 27 Chaffinches, 47 Linnets, 16 Goldfinches, 19 alba Wagtails, 24 Common Gulls, nine Skylarks, four Crossbills, five Yellowhammers, a Reed Bunting, a male RING OUZEL at 9:15am, four Song  Thrushes, four Blackbirds, five Mistle Thrushes and 25 Starlings. Nailsworth     An OSPREY flew over W at 12:50 pm today. (Terry Grant).

WWT Slimbridge     An OSPREY circled low over the Rushy before climbing high and heading towards Frampton at 12:30pm. (Martin McGill). Later over Frampton Court Lake. (Nick Goatman). Also two SPOONBILLS on the estuary at high tide and a Marsh Harrier. (Martin McGill).

Symonds Yat     In the  Yat Rock area today the Peregrine pair, an adult and a juvenile Goshawk, a female Sparrowhawk, Buzzards, Stock Doves, Ravens, Long-tailed Tits, Mistle Thrushes, c20 Siskins, a Grey Heron, a Kingfisher, six Swallows and three Jays. Other sightings included Speckled Wood, Small Copper and Large White butterflies, a Hornet, a Bank Vole and Fallow Deer rutting. Dudbridge     A Kingfisher flew over Dudbridge Garage near Sainsburys this afternoon. (Steve Pullen).

Arlingham     Six Little Egrets, six Grey Herons and a Green Woodpecker this evening along the River Severn S of Arlingham to Newnham. (Tony Seabright).

Monday 2nd October 2017

WWT Slimbridge     Two juvenile SPOONBILLS on the Rushy today. On South Lake three Mediterranean Gulls (two 1cy & an adult) and a Curlew Sandpiper. A late Spotted Flycatcher at the S end of the canoe trail. A Red Kite at the N end of the reserve. The Red-breasted Goose and the feral Barnacle Goose flock on the Bottom New Piece from Kingfisher hide. (Slimbridge Sightings/Lauren Tucker).

Frampton pools     A late Spotted Flycatcher in bushes by the Blue Pool, a late Willow Warbler at the top of Vicarage Lane, three Chiffchaffs, ten Swallows and an adult Yellow-legged Gull and a drake Pochard with 71+ Tufted Ducks on the Sailing Lake. A Hobby hunting between the pools. On Court Lake the GREAT WHITE EGRET, 12+ Little Egrets and the regular Court field Tawny Owl. (MK). Additionally this evening Little Egrets increased to 27, a Grey Plover over two Kingfishers and five Tawny Owls. (Nick Goatman).

Hempsted     A female Wigeon today at Netheridge Farm, a patch tick, also a Green Sandpiper. (Mark Hobson).

Tewkesbury     A pair of Kingfishers up and down the river, landing on fishing platforms by Avon lock. (Sarah Loaring).

Berkeley shore     Six Wheatears, c200 Goldfinches and Linnets and 25+Meadow Pipits. (Les Ditchburn).

Selsley Common     Five or six Wheatears this afternoon along with four Meadow Pipits and Skylarks. (Colin Greenfield).

Painswick Beacon     Highlights this morning five Sparrowhawks, three Kestrels, 191 Stock Doves, 268 Skylarks, two Woodlarks at 10:20am, 227 Meadow Pipits, 1880 House Martins, 24 Swallows, 61 Chaffinches, 111 Linnets, 22 Mistle Thrushes and 15 Yellowhammers all moving S or SW. (John Fleming).

Frampton     Two Mediterranean Gulls (adult & 2nd winter) briefly on the cricket pitch this morning. At Frampton shore a female Marsh Harrier from Splatt Bridge, also vismig included 475 Meadow Pipits, 45 alba Wagtails and 27 Reed Buntings. Also a Barn Owl and a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull over Splatt Bridge. An immature Hobby over Court Lake this afternoon. (Francis Steuck). At the Sailing Lake the GREAT WHITE EGRET, the adult Yellow-legged Gull, 21 Little Egrets, five Grey Herons, 11 Swallows, a Siskin, seven Chiffchaffs, a Green Sandpiper, three Grey Wagtails and 72 Tufted Ducks. Coombe Hill Meadows     At dusk 120 Greylags came in to Long Pool at 7:10pm, 15 Teal, a Grey Heron, ten Moorhens, three Green Sandpipers, a Little Owl calling persistently from 6:35pm onwards and a Cetti’s Warbler singing from Long Pool. (Mike Smart).

Frampton     On the Sailing Lake early afternoon the GREAT WHITE EGRET, ten Little Egrets, a Green Sandpiper, the adult Yellow-legged Gull, 50+ Tufted Ducks, 12+ Teal, and two Grey Wagtails, 10+ Swallows, four Goldcrests and four Chiffchaffs. On the crop fields a Yellow Wagtail, 25 Pied Wagtails, a Meadow Pipit and 73 Linnets. At the Gravel Wash a flock containing three Chiffchaffs, four Goldcrests, a male Blackcap, a Treecreeper and 6+ Long-tailed Tits, also 12 Goldfinches, and two Green Woodpeckers along the poplar avenue. WWT Slimbridge     Two Dark-bellied Brent Geese with the Red-breasted Goose and the feral Barnacle Goose flock on the Bottom New Piece from Kingfisher hide. Also on the Top New Piece a Yellow Wagtail, a Sedge Warbler, two Water Rails and a Whimbrel heard. (Slimbridge Sightings). Nailsworth     VisMig this morning between 7:35-8:40am a Redwing, 260+ Swallows, 265+ House Martins, four Sand Martins, 81 Pipit sp, a Grey Wagtail, four alba Wagtails and a Wheatear all moving south. (Terry Grant).

Leckhampton     A Tawny Owl heard calling at 8:30pm until 8:45pm. (Joe Lewis).

Coombe Hill Meadows     50 Teal, ten Mallards, two Shovelers, eight Grey Herons, three Snipe, two Green Sandpipers, a Little Owl calling, 20 Swallows, a Meadow Pipit, a Stonechat, a Chiffchaff and 40 Goldfinches. (Mike Smart).
